Could? Isn't that what happened last summer?

Yes, but he can't really use that as an excuse because he bought a player he believed was better than the guy he didn't want. In fact, he thought Barry was too.

What I meant was the money thing becomes valid when it actually damages the teams prospects. It cannot be used as a reason for our shit season. Only as a poor excuse.

If Torres had of started we would've put 2 or 3 past them. That's not to excuse Rafa though; we shouldn't be relying on one player to win us games.

And to think Torres left Atletico because he was fed up of carrying the team...

And in all likliehood he wont be here next season

SHIT FUCK BOLLOX WANK

Torres: 60 mins v Brum, off "injured"

Torres 85 mins v Benfica off rested.

Torres 0 mins v Fulham. Injured.

Horseshit. So if his knee was so bad, why play 85 mins v Benfica Rafa?

Ive said for more than a season, that he wants the sack and nothing he has done has ever changed my mind. He knows Real are waiting.

All can offer as mitigation s that he wanted to protect Torres from Fulham for the potential final.

City and Spurs run ins are/were such that we may well have caught them if the boss had the desire, its clear he sees a Europa cup win as his calling card for a job in europe next year.

He dropped Kuyt and Lucas today who actually must have started feeling good about themselves. 2 players bought as one thing, and played as another under this manager. Ive not been a fan of either but its starting to looklike systematic player degradation. Babel is another that deserves credit for sticking woth it despite this bizarre regime.

Classic Benitez.

Not sacking him at xmas has now cost us, twice.

Please leave, your history mate.

No we didn't control the game they just let us attack their 10 strong defence. As for Rafa......I can't be bothered anymore.

Only thing is if the yanks stay I can see him staying for at least another season to get his payoff down to an affordable level. I don't think we are at the bottom of this yet and it's gonna take alot to claw our way back up.

Really don't mean to sound melodramatic, but I'm totally pessimistic regarding our short-term future.

In the nineteen years that I've been alive, I've dreamed of us finding our feet and overcoming this 20 year 'blip', returning to the kind of club we used to be.

There isn't anyone involved with the club at the moment that I feel any affection for though. If we stick with our current staff (Rafa, Sammy, Pellegrino, Macia etc.), I think the damage they'll do will be irrevocable for a number of years.

As for the players themselves, every one of them is an embarrassment to the club this season. The majority of them aren't anywhere near world class. The ones with the highest ability conduct themselves in a way that I associate with other clubs. Whether it's in over-acting or just plain petulance to the officials, their attitudes really bring me down. I always thought we were better than that.

I'll always get behind the team and sing my heart out when I'm on the game. But unless big things happen this summer, I'm not holding my breath that the next few years are gonna be much better than the ones I've seen so far.

56 points from 34 games. That does fucking hit us hard doesn't it?

That works out to 1.6 points per game. For a club that is supposed to be challenging for the title and european trophies.

If I'm surprised by ANYTHING, it is the fact that some people still want him to stay!

Oh but there's plenty of them, they will be back on here soon banging on about net spend and Yanks and blah blah blah and how Rafa is working miracles with his hands tied etc, completely oblivious to the utter dog shit he's serving up week after week after soul destroying week.

I think I'd prefer that to a season in the Europa, it would hopefully see us prioritising the league, we will need to be at our very best next year if we are to get back into the top four. One season out of the CL may not hurt, two and it might be a long time before we qualify for it again.

Looking at the games we have left, I think we will get 66 points and that's being optimistic.

Fucking one season out it will be more than that if man city finish 4th,we are fucked they willl be able to attract better players ,we are going to be out the big 4 for along time mate

Rafa just said that Torres has gone to see a specialist.

Not good.

Shouldn't have played v Benfica then.

The whole situation is just a massive head fuck and if it turns out he has some incurable condition then we could be at odds with the Spanish National side to pull him out.

The money thing is damaging the team's prospects.

I agree it cannot be used as an excuse for this season, but that's a different debate.

Can we pack the season in now please?

No. We've got a European semi-final to sort out first.

I want Rafa to stay.

Tell me. What would you have done?
