I'll have that one. I won't say it too much, but he's come on over the last few years and apart from his aiming of his shots, he's turned into a brilliant player.

Agreed. Sensational against us last season and his overall game is also top class, a far more intelligent player than he gets credit for.

Also was guilty of thinking Arbeloa would be a bad signing - ironic given my fury in the summer that we hadn't tied him down for longer - but in my defence the two Spanish defenders we'd signed prior to that were shambolic.

Thought Morientes was a great buy at the time. Disappointing outcome. In a slightly different vein, I thought Jari Litmanen was going to be the new Kenny. Could have been, too, fantastic player, but we never found his best position. See him occasionally on ESPN, LFCTV in the re-runs of old matches, brilliant, but 2 moves ahead of everyone else.

When I was a kid I got Nigel Clough, 7 on the back of my Liverpool shirt. I'll excuse myself there though because I was about 8.

I thought Robbie Keane was going to be a great signing.

Apart from that I'm actually a very good judge of player, if I don't say so myself.

On the BBC page is a short piece from the Daily Fail concerning Kieron Dyer. I remember wanting us to sign him ahead of Newcastle way back when, because of his great pace and mobility. Good job we didn't, as he makes Aurelio look like the Man of Steel.

James Milner. I didn't think he was worth the £12M Villa paid for him and opposed the idea of buying him, but now it seems a great deal for Villa. Whether he's worth the reported £24M City want to pay for him I don't know, but I wish we'd got him when he left Leeds. He was a snip for just £3M or whatever amount Newcastle paid for him.
