Even if we wanted to drop vvd, matip can't play twice a week. As soon as we did that this season, he broke down.

I see a fatal flaw in your plan. 'Matip' and 'fit' are not really good friends unless preceded by 'not.'

And replace him with whom? It would cost at least 50 mil for an up and coming CH to fill his role and take them dozens and dozens of games to fit the system well. Never mind VVD's experience. I reckon Klopp has other priorities and I'd agree.

VVD is currently not playing to his own standard, the standard he is playing at is still first choice in pretty much every side. The whole defence as team is suspect. As we've all said repeatedly it all stems from midfield.

Last year with the 2 of them fit at the same time we did it pretty well.

The only issue is his fitness. Really good signing. He's still only 23. He seems to have pretty much everything you'd want in a CB. 

 

Van Dijk has been better in the last few matches. He's having a strange season.
