Its not a criticism of the player, its simply a criticism of the way we do our deals.

Ive seen quite a bit of him and he blows hot and cold, but he could be an excellent buy.

£29 million is ridiculous for a player that is still mostly about potential.

My point is this,my main concern is a DM and if we start saying 'we havent got the budget for one' it will be because we are paying £5 or £10 million too much on deals like this.

21 million + add ons for a 23 year old attacker who is widely accepted to one of the top players in the Bundesliga? Don't see where you're coming from tbh. Think of what we spent that sort of money last summer.

I think it's the point we could have got him last summer for a lot lot less.

I can only assume our transfer policy is based around someone's ideal of our changing room looking more like a tattooing convention than a group of footballers.

With the exception of the Chilean national side, are we the most inked up team in world football?

I reckon that's why Gerrard was edged out.

I might get THUG LIFE 4EVA BRUV tattooed on my forehead and send my highlights reel to Ayre.

It won't. If we haven't got the budget for a DM it'll be because we've incorrectly not prioritised signing one, and we've wasted money on shit squad players.

We waste money as a club buying shit players, not overspending on good ones.

We've a decent record in overspending on shit players too.

All this debate about the fee is fairly pointless but it is expected.

There was a similar debate about Suarez, his abilities and the fee we paid when we signed him and I remember that many said we should have signed Huntelaar instead. and then we saw what Suarez could do on the pitch while playing for us...

I think Firmino with his cleverness, his skills, his killer passes, can improve massively our team and Coutinho, Markovic and Lallana will enjoy playing alongside him. But in order to make the team challenge for trophies we'd need a World class striker, a top class DM and somehow (possibly under the coaching of a new manager) improve our defensive side of the game.

Firmino, Suarez or Messi won't be able to stop us conceding hilarious quality and hilarious number of goals against Stoke et al.

Yeah, I think it's needlessly negative for what actually is a deal that has finally been conducted in the right way. We tried the tough tactics, those players are now playing with other clubs.

But Vlad, £29m for a 'flairy' Brazilian is a steal because if he shows a glimmer of ability and scores a couple of worldies then his value doubles. That's how it works.

You see brand new Peugeot's go for fuck all within two years, whereas Mazaratti's remain expensive. Firmino's got a cool badge and a leather trim, his value isn't going to plummet until he's 32.

Any money paid for him pre birth would have been a waste as well. Have you seen our record at bringing foetuses through into regular first team players?

Not once have we done it. We'd have wasted him.
