The best case scenario is if he has career ending accident getting dressed ( not impossible) and we collect the insurance. Selling him is less likely than the above.

The club needs to start making it clear we are entitled to good money even at the end of his contract.Id rather keep him for two years on low wages and get 20m rather then sell him now for 40, give qpr their share and spend the rest on Benteke.

 

I would have set the asking price at 60m and no way should he be going for any less then 50, clubs will cough up later in the window and that 40m bid should have been immediately rejected.

Moreover, by next summer there is a bigger chance the transfer committee will not be functional anymore, or will have lost some of its current members. That's significant, because the committee constitutes, without question, the most incompetent group of people to ever conduct our transfer business.

Agree with this - apart from the assists, not sure anyone went 15 and 15 this year - he could certainly get 15 goals and 10 assists though.

Take them for all they are worth, e.g. £50M+. If not he can play in the reserves and Brendan can continue to demonstrate what a great talent he is at developing youth.

If we let him go to the end of his contract on his current salary, we will save nearly 10M (if you assume he were to sign a new deal and backdate it to sometime last season when the first offer was made). Then if we let him go to the end of his current deal we would roll the dice over the tribunal fee. We can show that we had a 40M bid for one of the best young players in the world. Surely we would get 15-20M. So now we are at maybe 30M. For not selling and keeping the status quo. Obviously the player would be upset, so that's the main case for letting him go; but on the other hand he would get over it - he would have to for the sake of his England career and future prospects.

With that in mind it would surely need a 50M bid to make us bother to do business. Sterling and his agent can kick up a fuss if they like. But the club should remain steadfast. We do business on our terms, or we don't do business. 50M and we will talk.

There is a fixed fee for players under 23\24 moving overseas 300k or something.

 

There is some stuff out there on Ings and Real Sociedad that seems to apply to Sterling.
