Divock Origi

Most of the players bar the odd few of late seem to lose all confidence when arriving here, why is that do you think? Origi looks short of it at the moment...

Being asked to play in 8 formations in 20 minute cameos, out of position and then have your manager heavily hint to the select media that he didn't want you anyway?

Just about everyone called it, bar Rodgers and the committee, obviously.

Signing Ings and Origi in the same window as Benteke - coupled with a manager too gutless to play two strikers - was like chucking the pair of them into the career equivalent of the fucking thunderdome.

Two strikers enter; one striker leaves with his career intact.

We may as well set fire to £10m for every position, it'd save the hassle of the loans and eventually paying off contracts.

I genuinely have no clue at all what we are doing with our transfer policy at the moment.

On the face of it, the idea of buying some promising young players cheap and selling them on in a couple of years when we have added value to them is fine but for a club with much more money to spend than we have.  As things are we've had money tied up in players loaned out all over the place (and not £2m-£3m each either, serious money) when it should be on the pitch every week in the first team and we're not likely to be making profits on them if they go anyway.

This idea of signing someone for a couple of million, loaning them out to some club in the arse end of the French league or wherever for two seasons and then they have somehow become good enough to make you a £5m profit is FM shite.  Once in a blue moon it might come off, the rest of the time you just sign a load of Pongolles, Le Tallecs and Palettas.  When you are signing them for £10m and selling at a loss, or the manager just doesn't fancy them, it's time for a rethink.

The only consolation (and it says a lot that it has come to this) is that if those players fees and wages had been made available for first team regulars there's a good chance we would just have spent it on more utterly abject shite anyway.

We didn't sign Origi this summer. We took a punt after he looked a bit ace at the World Cup. Dont see how this can go down as a transfer blunder yet, could still go either way.

I think the deal was in place with Lille before he got noticed in the World Cup, hence the odd loan back element and relatively low fee. God knows how much we might have been persuaded to pay for him if it hadn't been agreed beforehand.

He does look like he needs to go somewhere to re-build his game though. He's not going to do it at Liverpool this season.

  • 2 weeks later...

Buy a forward last year and leave him on loan when we had no strikers. Then send him out on loan the year after cause we have too many average strikers ahead of him.

Only Liverpool

probably giving him a rocket.

remember the talk of sterling going out on loan at start of 13-14? Kick started him into action.

he missed some great chances last night but his movement was good and he did well for our goal.
