Does Rodgers deserve another season.

We don't need a new manager, we've got a brilliant manager.

This is how I'm approaching this Summer, I'm not having it ruined by pining for something that isn't happening. Just accept it, embrace it, get behind it, mix in a bit of unfounded optimism over signings, and enjoy the Summer.

LFC, not worth your health over.

you're storing up trouble for later.  Dig a hole in the back garden today, and carefully place all your hopes and dreams in it.  Then fill the hole with concrete and place a large heavy ornament over it.

Strange how people weren't too fussed about Rodgers ego, teeth, interviews, personal life etc when we were playing great football and finished second last season. Bad fairweather whoppers.

As for talk of relegation and being Newcastle, behave now. We've been poor this season, but we're not dedescending to that level yet. If anybody can't see the mitigation for this season that is staring them in the face, well.

I'm a Rodgers backer, but I'm swaying to jibbing him. But only if we can get in a proven, winning manager. An upgrade. And the options for that type of manager look limited. Ancelotti and Benitez are non starters. Klopp is also rumoured to want some time out. In any event, I don't watch that much German football to have formed an educated opinion on him. But, he seems like the only viable option out there. But don't see him coming here.

So, who then, who'll be a guaranteed upgrade? I see very few candidates. I like Hiddink, but don't see FSG being interested in an elder manager. There's a few decent up and coming managers like Unai Emery, Eddie How, Gary Monk, De Boer, Cocu, Nuno Espirito at Valencia.Maybe Garcia at Roma.

But, do these offer the upgrade that is needed or do they just represent another sideways step, where we'll be in the same position 2-3 years down the line, calling for change if they're not doing the business?

If that's the case, I'd be more inclined to give Rodgers a period of grace, namely next season, and see what he does then. If there is no improvement then, see how the land lies with Ancelotti or if Perez gets trigger happy with Benitez, or even if one of the up and coming managers has cut their teeth a bit more, so as to warrant further consideration.

Pft... Haven't you seen the 'Ancelotti Watch' thread... We're all over him

The Jao comment was tongue in cheek about you being seemingly the last man standing on this thread, I'm sure you knew that Stu, you're one of my favourite posters and I've told the doctor several times that I consider you an internet friend.

The thought police comment was an allusion to the speed and, quite often, ferocity with which the pro Rodgers camp would descend on someone who voiced the fact they didn't rate him. The intention often seemed not to discuss - but to shut down discussion, I personally gave the thread wide berths for the reason that that often seemed to be the case.

I'm obviously not going to be arsed going back through the thread, but I'm sure people have their own opinions on what was and wasn't fair comment.

That's the thing though mate, the "pro-rodgers camp" consists of Pennant and about three other people. It was actually the "Not decided to give him the boot yet" camp you're talking about, for me.

Either way, winding the snark in on all sides would probably make this summer more bearable.

"Of course! We are one big happy fleet! Ah, Edwards and Fallows, my old friends, do you know the Klingon proverb that tells us revenge is a dish best served cold? It is very cold in Anfield."

Not really, they were just made light of as the end result was the important thing.

A drunk stumbling and falling into a leather armchair without spilling a drop of his drink is humorous; whilst the same drunk stumbling and accidentally knocking a child in front of a train isn't. Same behaviour, different outcome.

It really is a striking pattern amongst the nailed on Rodgers Out faction, nearly all of them cannot provide a named replacement who would be both a guaranteed upgrade and a realistic, obtainable option.

I genuinely think that this is personal and vindictive now, and that the Rodgers Out faction are more focused on their vendetta against the manager, wanting him out at all costs, rather than the continued health of the club, as it appears to be an anyone but Rodgers mindset.

Lemme guess, you get to decide whether any suggestions are a "guaranteed upgrade and a realistic, obtainable option"?

I'd like us to go all out for Ancelotti or Klopp.  Make an offer one of them can't refuse.  Anything is possible.

How much a year were Gerrard and Johnson on combined? Around 12-13m

We won't be paying anybody who we bring in that kind of money. Probably half of it tops so there is 6-7m of 20 saved straight away.

Jib 4 who are on 3m and it's job done

Milner 6 million a year

Henderson and Sturridge big increases to 100k+ a week.

That's the Gerrard/Johnson money gone without even getting Sterling tied down to a new deal.

Both of the things you ask for in the naming of a replacement are entirely subjective though.

Everyone can list names, but would you just accept that they fit the criteria you're asking for though?

Klopp, Emery, De Boer, Biesla, Rafa etc.

As for the latter point, no one wants the club to fail, but the "out at all costs" crew as you're depicting them probably think that once players stop responding to a manager's methods and begin capitulation on a legend's final game then it really is a case of delaying the inevitable.

Yes. But, I think you get the gist of what I mean.

People are trotting out Benitez and Ancelotti, and there's clear, recorded evidence as to why it's highly unlikely that they're not available options.

Klopp is the more realistic and obtainable of the 3 names being chucked around. But, apart from these 3, there's no one who is realistic, or a name that gets you on the edge of your seat. Check out the betting on oddschecker. It's a terrible list.

If it's Not one of the big 3 mentioned, I'd sooner stick as we are.

No need for Ayre or Rodgers to be in it whatsoever. It's a photo of the playing legends.

What was he doing on the pitch last week getting his photo taken with Gerrard as well? He's a professional geg in.

If he was here 10 years ago he'd have pushed Josemi out the way and been right at the front of all those photos in Istanbul. He'd have probably done a John Terry as well and put the full kit on the fucking meff.

This is like last year when people were griping about the transfer window we'd just had and someone posted about naming better players we could get for the money if it was so easy, and everyone did name better players. True story.

Always baffles me how a football fan's inability to suggest a ready replacement for someone means that person can't in real life be replaced. It doesn't really happen with any other discussion.

'My boss is a twat'

Who would you replace him with?

'My Dr told me to rub Deep Heat on my balls'

Who would you replace him with?

It's not really my job to know who  is a specialist in these fields or who is available and likely to come, at LFC, there are people paid considerable sums of money to at least though be in a position to find out.
