Been mentioned a few times. Could do a poll but there are so many. For me beating Barcelona 4-0 in 2019. My dad was at deaths door at the time, he told me before the match we'd win 4-0. I put it down to the amount of morphine he was on. Just unreal to come back like that. We won number 6 two days after his funeral.

Pep Guardiola has echoed his previous claim that Jurgen Klopp is his best rival in Football. Speaking in the aftermath of the shock news that the Liverpool manager will be standing down at the end of this season (Per ESPN), Guardiola said that no one has come close to challenging him as a manager than the German and that he has helped to shape an era in Football. “I will sleep better [when Klopp goes]. The games we play before against Liverpool were almost a nightmare. Of course he will be missed. It was a shock [to hear the news]. I felt when I heard it that a part of Man City … we will lose something. We cannot define our period here without him …

End of a era coming As someone born in the early 80s by the time i went to school and definitely by the time i hit secondary school it was shit. The mancs lording it and the "Its our year" taunts. Slowly started to change under Houllier, then Rafa got some success but Klopp took us to a level none of my generation had seen. So with that whats your best XI and 1 game changing sub from the past 25 years. Mine I'll take Milner as the sub so he can come on play anywhere and kick people

Jurgen Klopp dropped a bombshell on us this morning with the news he was leaving at the end of the season, so we recorded this emergency podcast to try and make some sense of it all. TLW Editor Dave Usher is joined by Julian Richards and Stu Montagu, while there are drop ins from a couple of other lads as we discuss the whys, wherefores and what nexts. What started out as a serious, sombre discussion descended into chaos thanks to interruptions from cats, home smart speaker systems and the distraction of a Xabi Alonso press conference. Short one this week as there were only a handful of games, one of which was ours and has already been covered. So four games to get through, starting with the return of my boy Ivan Toney against Forest. Cracking game. Danilo volleyed Forest into an early lead but Toney levelled in contentious circumstances. Firstly, it looked like a dive by Damsgaard to win the free-kick, but the thing that had Forest so angry they wrote to PGMOL about it (I’ll get to this) was Toney moving the ball a foot to the right to give himself a bit more leeway to bend it around the wall and into the bottom corner (which he did, superbly). It’s not just that he moved the ba…

The Metropolitan Police have requested that the Carabao Cup Final between Liverpool and Chelsea on the 25th of February be moved forward to an earlier timeslot due from its current 4:30pm timeslot due to it sitting in the ‘high risk’ category. The two teams met in a couple of showcase finals two years ago with the Carabao Cup final kicking off at 4:30pm while the FA Cup final kicked off 15 minutes later. The Met released a statement (per the Echo) which outlined the process. “Preparations for the EFL Cup policing operation are underway following the conclusion of the two semi-finals and we are working with partners including…

It might have seemed quite close in then end, but this to me never felt in any doubt. We had another gear to go to if needed but we just did what was required to get the job done and now we’re in another final. I’ve lost count of how many we’ve had under Klopp, I heard someone say this was his 10th semi final and I can’t remember us losing any, so presumably this is final number 10. It doesn’t matter, it’s a lot anyway.* I expected more from Fulham but for once we actually started well and played a good first half. I thought Fulham would come flying at us but they didn’t really get the opportunity as we smothered them in that first half. Their players had no t…

Work-rate. Incisiveness. Nous. I don't ask for much. This is how it's gonna be. Build from the ground up. 4th Round of the FA Cup then, in a game that is live on ITV if anyone wants to know. Early kick-off against a team managed by Jurgen's best mate David Wagner. For the past decade, Norwich have been a side that is strong in the Championship but out of their depth in the top flight. A yo-yo club by any definition, although last season ended in mid-table mediocrity rather than a bounce back to the Premier League. This season, they are just outside the play-off places so still well in contention. They must be hating that Ipswich have le…

Jurgen Klopp says Joe Gomez has been an unsung hero in his ability to deputise for injured teammates in the back four. Versatility has been a trademark of Jurgen Klopp’s spell as manager, asking players to play in a non-preferred position, but the sacrifice has then led to overall success. That trait is what led to James Milner earning the respect from everyone at the club, whether the midfielder filled in at Left or Right Back, he did it with a minimum of fuss. And Gomez shares that same quality. It is sometimes easy to forget that he is still only 26, but it is clear he is highly regarded from the coaching staff and teammates alike. …

Another Wembley final against Chelsea awaits after Liverpool handled business in the League Cup semi-final second leg at Fulham to secure a 3-2 aggregate win. An early Luis Diaz strike put Jurgen's trophy collecting Reds on course, but a late equaliser meant a tricky ending to an otherwise comfortable night in West London. Chris Smith hosts John Brennan and TLW Editor Dave Usher to recap the action, preview the Norwich game and look ahead to the repeat of the 2022 final and add a tenth League Cup to the Champions Wall. Obviously, none of us want to even think about the day that Jurgen Klopp is no longer in the dugout, but it will happen one day and personally I think we’ve got two, maximum four seasons left before he goes. There are no obvious outstanding replacements anywhere in football. Xabi Alonso is maybe one, but I think he’ll end up at Madrid so this makes me think we might already be looking at an internal solution. Almost like a throwback to the old boot room days! I was just reading the press conference that Lijnders gave for the league cup semi final and it made me wonder if part of the reason we are getting him to do them is because the plan is for hi…

A South American football expert has been surprised by the lack of concrete bids for a midfielder who has been likened to a former Liverpool star. Andre Trindade has been a name which has been circulating for a number of months with a number of Premier League clubs believed to be interested with Liverpool apparently at the front of the queue. Coming off a season that was imminently forgettable, the optimism in the fanbase for a successful campaign was not helped just before the season kickoff in August when the Reds interest in Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia was rebuffed with both players opting to join Chelsea. With Liverpool desperate…

Yet another game in which we turned it on in the second half after an underwhelming opening 45 minutes. It feels like we do this every week and it feels like I’m saying every week “it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish”. I’d have preferred us to win the first half 4-0 and then start resting people for Wednesday, but I’m not complaining. Another win, another clean sheet, the forwards in the goals and five points clear. Great stuff. It is weird though the massive discrepancy we’re seeing between halves. Every week I have to listen to my Dad say before the game “we’re always crap in the first half, we’re a second half team”. He’s right of course, but it’s g…

Nunez! Nunez! The Reds recorded what feels like a statement victory in a tricky fixture as Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota put Bournemouth to the sword in a ruthless second half showing. Chris Smith is joined by Ian Brown, Julian Richards and TLW Editor Dave Usher to bask in the glow of a big performance from the lads that extended the lead at the top of the table to five points. Work-rate. Incisiveness. Nous. I don't ask for much. This is how it's gonna be. Build from the ground up. After coming back to win in the first leg, this game represents a chance for the squad, so shorn of first-team regulars, to claim a place in the final, most likely against Chelsea, who play their second leg the day before. In many ways, the squad have exceeded expectations this season so to not reach the final at least would represent disappointment. That would be the case any time we don't reach a final, but this is a squad very much it its infancy such was the summer rebuild. The last League Cup tie between the two at…

Monday Jan 15: Seems like all our kids are being recalled from loan this month. Beck was needed here, but Carvalho, Williams, Phillips (not a kid, but the point stands), Koumetio and probably others have been called back. Chambers has been sent out to Wigan now that Beck has come back, but we probably need to look a bit more closely at where we’re sending these lads as for the most part it’s like we’re wasting everyone’s time. Tyler Morton is doing well at Hull though, and he did well at Blackburn last year too. He’s a rare success story. Balagizi was another one we called back, I almost forgot about him. Ramsay as well. Fucking hell, this is turni…

Not a full round of fixtures as some clubs are on their winter break but there were a fair few games this weekend and most of the results went fairly well for us. There was one exception of course, the fucking cheating cunts pulled within two points of us at the top and I’m not gonna lie, I’ve got this sense of burning injustice welling up inside me already. If we lose out to them by a point or two again, after what happened at Spurs and with them having 115 charges hanging over them seemingly indefinitely (I know a date has been set, but their lawyers will find a way to get an extension) while other clubs who have done far less serious crimes are being punish…

The reason I ask is that I dont really dislike any of the players in our core group, I dont understand how its possible? Usually I have a strong dislike for a few of the players in our first team squad, but not at the moment. Sometimes its almost strong hate, because I think they are fuckin useless. But not now, now its almost boring because I like everyone, but I have convinced myself its a sign and that we will achieve great things this season. Most likely win a triple at least.
