Just a thought but would Dalglish's best move now to do a piece with tony evans or barrett declaring himself in the running to be the new manager and declaring that he is no longer part of the team to appoint the new Manager.

Reveal his hunger to do the job, his plans for the team, maybe that he has words of assurance from Torres ,Gerrard that they will stay if he is appointed.

That would then surely pile the pressure on cecil and the board especially if they are looking for a yes man to asset strip the club over his head

Lets be honest its doubtful Kenny would start playing games, he is probably gutted that its came out he wants the job. I think if he comes out saying he wants it now then it will cause even more of a circus around it then there already is, which might be his dilemma

These muppets are going toe to toe on the issue, too: Kenny Dalglish opposes Liverpool appointing Roy Hodgson - LiverpoolFC Official Forums

I've never known this club to be so devoid of direction and unity.

This time of the year is usually a period of expectation. All I feel at present is resignation. Who, Kenny aside, can we feasible suggest has the best interests of our club at heart?

You could all be right about him, who knows? Until somebody actually comes out with concrete evidence about all of the above then it is just conjecture, hearsay and malicious rumour.

His lies about the supposed transfer budget are not hearsay.

Why you'd want to give someone like Purslow any benefit of the doubt given the clubs predicament this past 3 years, i find staggering.

Can we have some concrete evidence about all the shite that was thrown at Benitez on these forums? Doubtful, very doubtful.

Still, i find it hard to understand why someone would give absolutely no benefit of the doubt to a manager like Benitez but will now happily afford it to a businessman like Purslow.

PS - Dalglish documentary on skysports1 now.

Would rather Pell than hodge, you know what never got the get rid of Benitez thing, this forum I think was probably split 50/50, asked loads of times no ones fucking replied, would someone from the get rid of Benitez brigade please tell me how the fuck we are better off now?

They are fucking vermin on that forum.

No 2 ways about it. Detached, know nothing cunts who represent everything that is bad about our support today.

I have to agree. Some of the comments they make are shameful. I'd be saddened to find that I was sitting next to one of them next season.

This is beyond the pale:

EmbraceTheMartian: And, if the story is true, I'm sure Kenny knows Purslow won't risk the wrath of the fans by making a move which will lead to Kenny's departure. It puts pressure on Purslow to appoint Kenny, regardless of whether or not he thinks he is right for the job.

When did Cecil become a demi-god? A man who doesn't have a temporary contract at this club is now in charge of deciding its future. Absurd.

Completely agree mate. Him and Kenny both love this club, that much is true. Now it seems neither are good enough, all very suspicious.

No chance, they are all dickheads who never go the games. That gimp on there who started the whole Kenny bashing off is some beaut from Croatia, all the rest of them agreeing are a bunch of happy clapping clueless meffs who think he is some kind of football guru. They aren't even clued up on the ownership issue over there. To sum up, they are insignificant. Nothing to see...

Kenny for manager!

It wasn't a mistake to get rid of Benitez. It was a mistake not to have a replacement lined up before he was given the axe.

How hard would it have been to sound out the top candidates prior to sacking him. This is becoming farcical. I do wish people would stop using this managerless mess to justify their defence of Rafa. The two issues are separate for me.

True

The only point being is Rafa wasnt sacked for his incompetance but because he refused to toe the party line.

Rafa was sacked for non football reasons when he should have been fired for football reasons.

Sad fucking state fo affairs and the right decision for the wrong reasons

I don't care how he gets the job. If he has to gouge Cecil to death, so be it.

EmbraceTheMartian: Kenny knows that Purslow won't risk appointing a manager which will upset a huge majority of Liverpool FC fans. Appointing Hodgson wouldn't have done so (there's a few crying about him on here, but a lot of people think he's a reasonable candidate). However, appointing Hodgson and in turn showing Kenny the door would upset most people. He's putting so much pressure on Purslow to appoint him.

Can someone with an E-season ticket show this cunt the poll that Tony Barrett refers to, please: 6.5% of the vote for Woy. It's a no-brainer: he's not wanted here.

No, Dalglish's best ploy would be to tell the owners and the board first, then allow himself to be asked about it in the press. In fact his best ploy would have been to do this weeks ago. We'd have been further down this road if he had.

Liverpool in race to sign Roy Hodgson before England can come calling

• Fulham manager may prefer to play waiting game

• Hodgson appointment mau upset Kenny Dalglish

* Andy Hunter

* The Guardian, Tuesday 22 June 2010

Liverpool hope to agree a deal with Roy Hodgson to become their new manager before England's make-or-break game against Slovenia tomorrow, despite concerns the appointment will prompt Kenny Dalglish to reconsider his future at the club.

Anfield officials had been confident of appointing the Fulham manager as successor to Rafael Benítez by the end of this week, only for the uncertainty over Fabio Capello's position should England fail to qualify from their World Cup group to hasten their approach. Hodgson is considered a strong candidate for the England job should Capello quit.

Mindful of a potential rival for their first choice to replace Benítez, the Liverpool board is now looking to secure an agreement from Hodgson before England's fate in Group C is determined. The 62-year-old is well aware of Liverpool's interest and his likely transfer budget at Anfield but may prefer to delay a decision on his future until after the game in Port Elizabeth.

An added complication for the Liverpool hierarchy, and particularly the managing director, Christian Purslow, is Dalglish's opposition to Hodgson's appointment and his disillusionment with how the process of identifying the new manager has unfolded.

In a statement confirming Benítez's departure this month, Liverpool announced that Dalglish would work alongside Purslow in the search for the club's next manager. Since then, however, Dalglish has made it known that he wants the job due to what he perceives as a lack of better qualified and available candidates. He is a long-time friend of Hodgson but feels his recommendations to the board have been ignored and that the Fulham manager is not the right man to take Liverpool forward at a critical juncture in their history. The Scot is likely to reconsider his role at Liverpool, which is officially that of a club ambassador with input into the club's youth academy, should Hodgson be installed as manager this week.

I think we all have to take these reports with a pinch of salt

Hodgson could have been appointed last week

Why wait for him to go to South Africa to appoint him, it the press making up stories again.

Don't think they are making it up. The Engerland situation have forced our muppets to move swiftly.

Othewise, they'll still be dragging their fucking heels well into next month.

They are the same parasites who scoff at the idea of giving up their web subscriptions in protest of Hicks & Gillett.

For most on there, that forum is their only real connection to the club. They've got no idea about the realities this club presently faces but yet their one eyed opinions will be seen by thousands.

Dalglish is being picked apart by some Croatian shitehawk and his meffy clique.
