Anyone had laser eye surgery?

If so how was it?

 

Thinking of havng it done myself, possibly both eyes at the same time. Is that wise? Don't fancy having to do a Tom Cruise in the Minority Report.

Mate of mine had it last year, he cant praise it highly enough, he only wore glasses for work (some mad scientist type) he had them bandaged up for 24 hours sore for a couple of days, and within a week back to normal, and his vision was amazing, so he says...

i havent had it done, YET, but i will in 4 years time for my 30th birthday

 

i do know 3 people that have had it done, one was afew years ago ,he went to England, it worked fine

 

the other, a friend of my girlfriends had hers done last year, here`s basically what she told me, she went around some of the cheaper places, opitlase clincs etc... all them, "€500 per eye, have it done during lucnh time" places, and said they where dodgy as fuck, she ended up going to a respectable private hospital here in dublin and paid in and around 4000 euro, they did one eye first, then waited 2 weeks to make sure everything was ok, then did the other one, she wore glasses from the age of 8 ,and is now perfect!!!!

 

here`s the horror story unfortunetly, another friend of mine, she had hers doen in one of the cheapo places, and simply put, she`s now blind in 1 eye, she`s trying to bring them to court ,but thats going to be a long drawn out process, she was told she could go to some palce in america and they could probably fix the eye, but she wont go through it again,

 

so the moral of the story is, dont cheap out on the procedure, go to a proper hospital, i read that them cheapo optilase places fly arab doctors over for 2 day work trips, where they do about 20 operations a day

 

so if it means waiting a few extra months to get the money up for a decent place, id wait, i couldnt imagine ebing blind, all over a measly 2 grand :whoops:

Almost had it done few months back. Was really tempted but i just couldn't afford the £2700 they wanted. I'll get it done as soon as i can afford it. Hopefully, early next year

Had it done 7 years ago. AdamS is right. If you depend on glasses, do it, it will change your life. And do it when you're young before the longsightedness sets in and its back to glasses.
