"Golden" personality nomination fiasco

How on earth did Beckham get in the top 5 British sports personalities of the last 50 years, on the beeb last night ??

What an absolute joke. I presume the great British thicko public voted for the final 5 ?

Ian Botham, iconic, arguably the finest all round cricketer this country has produced in 40 years, does a lot of work for charidee, understandable entry.

Bobby Moore, the only Englishman to captain a world cup winning side, understandable entry.

Torvill & Dean, don't personally class ice mincing as a sport, but at least you can say they actually 'achieved' something, therefore understandable entry.

Steve Redgrave, 5 olympic golds over a 20 year period, no argument, understandable entry.

David Beckham, scored a free kick for England once, put a skirt on for a night out. And ?

Daley Thompson - 2 olympic golds in the hardest competition of all - the decathlon - Not mentioned

Nick Faldo - 6 major golf tournaments ( 3 British open's, 3 US masters) - Not mentioned

Bobby Charlton - world cup winner, joint highest goalscorer in English international history - Not mentioned

I could go on. Imagine if you are any of the above, you must wonder why that charlatan has been placed higher in the affections of the nation than yourself when you've actually done something worthwhile.

This country is a laughing stock.

When D**** B****** (give him the EH treatment please) was on the programme last night I turned to Sky just in time to see him shit out of a tackle that lead to the equalising goal - bit like the world cup really!!!

Probably nominated for services to the Replica Shirt and hairdressers industries:yes:

Simply the best bar none!! Only argument was if he was the world best of all time.

Having trained with and been on the piss with him in the 80's at SCCC he gets my vote.
