Leicester City sign Liverpool defender Paul Konchesky

Leicester City have signed Liverpool left-back Paul Konchesky for an undisclosed fee.

The England international, who was capped by Foxes manager Sven-Goran Eriksson, has signed a three-year contract at the Championship club.

Eriksson told the club website: "I know Paul well as a player and as a person. He will be a top-class addition."

Konchesky, 30, joined Liverpool for £3m in August 2010 when he was signed by Roy Hodgson from former club Fulham.

But the Londoner made just 18 appearances for the Anfield club and was loaned out to Nottingham Forest in January.

Konchesky was handed his England debut by Eriksson in a friendly against Australia in 2003 and his second appearance was against Argentina two years later.

The Swede added: "Paul has been a Premier League player year in and year out throughout his career so he represents a very big signing for us.

"It means a lot that proven, established top-flight footballers want to be part of what we are building here."

Konchesky began his career as a trainee at West Ham before moving to Charlton where he made 169 appearances.

Following a brief spell with Tottenham Hotspur, the defender returned to Upton Park in 2005 and scored in the Hammers' FA Cup final defeat by Liverpool a year later.

He left West Ham for Fulham in 2007.

Surprised we got shot for any kind of fee to be honest, unless "undisclosed" means "nothing". Doesn't say anything about us continuing to pay him a portion of his wages to move, so hope that's not the case.

Good news. One down plenty to go.

I wish him all the best though, it wasn't his fault he wasn't good enough. The time he got booed off by our own fans when we were losing at home (to Blackpool perhaps) was a fucking embarrasment to any half decent red.

One of the worst players to have ever wore the Red shirt.

Definitely, the fact he cant even get a premier league club yet was somehow worthy of our shirt is mindblowing. Didnt need to be a genius to know he'd be horrendous before we signed him yet Mr "36 years of experience" seemed to think otherwise the fucking old cunt.

Good luck to him. Outside of not being good enough and the outburst from his Mum there is not much wrong with how he conducted himself here. Moved on to a Championship team on loan in January and now agreeing to permanently move onto another Championship team when he had 3 years left on a contract that probably paid significantly more money.

Im not having that. He was a disastrous signing and stank of Roy Hodgson, Gillet & Hicks. Good riddance to him and his battered cunt of a ma.
