It might be an international break but there's loads going on so we're here to cover it as well as to look ahead to the big game at the Etihad this weekend.

Diaz, Nunez & Szoboslai have been tearing it up for their countries, Trent has caught the eye in midfield and Evertonians are revolting. And they're unhappy about being docked ten points, badumtish!

Chris Smith is joined by Julian Richards, Paul Natton and TLW Editor Dave Usher to discuss all of the above, plus we also answer some questions sent in by the listeners.

I was pissing myself at Dave with Paul's utterances of disgust in the background but Chris's "Jesus Christ" at 1:41:35 is fucking gold.

Too similar to Kenny. Fucking hell. My wife is upstairs and just rang me to ask me if I was ok.

Interesting discussion around Trent's comments about preferring to play in midfield.

It seems to be going under the radar little bit but Trent's down to the last 18 months of his deal, there's been little talk that a renewal is imminent.

Come the summer the club are in a very tight spot if he hasn't renewed.

A bit shameless from Jules turning up to record a pod about the international break having watched no international football. Fucking hell.

In Jules' defence he is more passionate about international football than anyone in our group. It's just we'd rather talk about who smells nicest than Wales games.

I could see him running it down and going to Madrid to be with his bestie Bellingham.

He’s absolutely fucking shameless, mate. And John just enables him.

Haha! I was literally laughing out loud. It was brilliant.

I was wondering if Dave would pitch it at the bottom end - replacing Jimmy Carter or Steve Harkness, someone like that - or go big at the top end.

Oh he went big alright.

“Me and Michael….”

And then, maybe thinking that he’d perhaps sold himself a little short, decided to throw in the hand grenade of comparing himself to Kenny!

Love it, Dave!

A fantastic listen. Well done to all!

Not sure why you would think that, his past comments have always been about staying at Liverpool and going on to get the captaincy.

Liverpool right back Trent Alexander-Arnold has already played in two Champions League finals and is set to make his 100th appearance for the club on Saturday and the 21-year-old now has his sights set on the captain's armband.

"I am not shy in saying that (being Liverpool captain) is a dream for me," he said in an interview with the BBC here.

"Whether it comes true or not is not up to me. I don't pick who is captain.

"But that is something I would love to do one day. Captaining Liverpool is something I have always dreamed of and it is something that motivates me."

Alexander-Arnold grew up in the city and entered the club's academy at the age of six. He has no thoughts about playing anywhere else.

"I've always been a Liverpool player, Liverpool has always been my home," he added. "I have never thought about changing clubs.

"When I grew up, the dream was always to play for Liverpool. Now I am living the dream and I can't see that changing."

The Kenny line really threw me, all the descriptions in the life of the pod have described a Rush or Fowler penalty box predator. I never knew he had so much more to give.

That was a great question by the way. I'd choose to take Robbos slot in the league winning season. Left back wasn't my position, I'd be more James Milner at LB but Virgil protecting on the inside, Sadio in front and Gini doing his thing too, I'd feel emboldened to really show the world my capabilities. Good preseason into me, Robbo isn't getting that slot back.

Those are descriptions by people trying to do me dirty. Just because I was a great finisher doesn't make me a goalhanger, although that's how the haters portray me. I was half joking with the Kenny comparison. What I meant was we'd be occupying the same area of the pitch and we both need a Rush-type along side us.

John G always compares me to the newer version of Kane, when he developed his game and started dropping off and playing defence splitting passes as well as still scoring loads. That's probably a good comp, although I'd admit that Kane does everything better than I did. The style is similar though.

Well that was what, three or four years ago? I'm not going to read too much into what he said as a 21 year ole winning everything there is to win. Things can change. I don't think he's looking to leave but I couldn't say for certain he's not either.

Point of order. Omar didn't deal drugs, Omar robbed drug dealers.

I was thinking about the start to the 2019/20 season when Chris mentioned it. Every game was, to slip back in the world of The Wire, like the purest heroin that the dealers use to get the junkies hooked. We'll never see the likes of it again, and I'm okay with that.

Sounds like you're doing yourself a disservice only going as high as Kenny.

That's the most laugh out loud moments I've had listening to any pod, ever.  From Dave's dad with Thommo.  Dave's Trump levels of self-belief (and apparently just as misplaced) . Jules just not arsed about international footy.  Chris's Newcastle story.  Everton getting a 10 point deduction.  Just laugh after laugh.

p.s. Alonso isn't really that attractive
