Midfield fucked again.  Starting with Carvalho was a mistake but when the alternative is Milner I can understand why Klopp made that choice.

Chronic under investment starting to show consistently.  It's peeped through on a number of occasions the last two years but Klopp has kept it at bay. I think it's hard to hold back the tide now. Hope I'm wrong and were just having a blip due to this weird season.

Well back to the drawing board isn’t it.

Team selection was shit, you can’t play two young lads in the midfield at goodison. Nunez looks well short and how many systems did we play.

This team needs men in the engine room and as many of us have said it is a season of transition.
Cups and top four battle at best.

Poor finishing, inspired keeping kept us out and we were lucky too.

Mo anonymous again, he's not a threat anymore.

He woke up in the last ten minutes, it wasn't enough though. He needs to be doing that for 90 minutes not ten.

He's not the only one though. Half the squad look like they've had a heavy night on the ale before every game. (Maybe they have? Who knows.)

Our problem is we are trying to line up the same way we did at our peak with a different set of players/players who can't now give us what they did/who are not as effective at lining up as we do.

We don't have a Henderson/Gini axis ala 2020 doing what they did so well....winning 2nd balls, breaking up play etc and getting ball onto Mane/Salah in space for them to run in behind teams.

We today didn'r have a Firmino leading the press from front and linking play and being that trigger.....does he/can he do it way he did now anyway?

Our full backs are not covered as well as they were - they are not as progressive as were.

We either have to get the right key parts in to make this system work better again or tweak system to better suit what we do have now and what they are best at....because right now we look directionless and at odds with how we are lining up - the parts just don't fit the system.

Very patchy display. Only sporadic moments where we looked dangerous. It was a brave starting line-up but it didn't quite work because Phil 2.0 struggled to get into the game before he picked up a knock, and Darwin is lacking rhythm having barely played. Lucho struggled to make a real impact as did Mo. Harvey was bright in the first half but faded noticeably in the second.

I thought Bobby was very good when he came on, and a touch unfortunate not to find the net. He still hasn't scored in a derby!

And yet despite the front three looking a little out of sorts, they all hit the woodwork.

Something is not quite right with us still. Effort is there but we don't seem able to play with tempo and really pin teams back right now.

This is definitely not a blip. It's one shitshow after another.

Yer blips are 2 maybe 3 bad games this has gone on since last season towards the end we were grinding out results but not playing well, this season we're not playing well or grinding out wins regularly the upside if there is one were not playing well but were not losing either.

Raggedy, bitty, wet fart of a game. Like a 60s or 70s derby game but a bit too open and without the physical mayhem. Too many chances missed and one or two silly ones given up. We'll improve on this, Everton can't improve. The way this season has started has been messy but, with thirty two games left, it would be both moronic and cowardly to concede anything other than 'we could do better'.

I don’t understand the Nunez signing at all, target men just never work for us. Our success has been built on fluidity and rotation of offensive players positions. Nunez would be great for someone like Everton but he is just the anthesis of what we need. Can’t fucking believe we let mane leave.

He wanted out.

Once that is case it is all over - nothing else can or should happen.

He's not a target man. He was genuinely playing on the left in the first half and changing positions with Diaz. But there's zero chemistry with him and the other players and our plan to get him chances at the moment is just to hoof it to him.

We didn't let him leave, he wanted to leave last season.

Nunez is starting to worry me though.
