I worked at Rayware full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A lot of nice people. Product discounts.

    Cons

Bullying culture from the top down, unprofessional management, general lack of strategy and terrible working environment.

    Advice to Management

Grow up, quite frankly! Scoring points off your hard working employees by acting like a tyrannical school yard bully, and sacking people on a whim is no way to run a business. It will earn you neither loyalty nor respect.

    I worked at Rayware full-time

    Pros

Discount on products however nothing else.

    Cons

The working environment at Rayware is horrible. The office is dull and your made to feel like you are always looking over your shoulder and that the company is doing you a favor by employing you. During my time at Rayware, employees where constantly being sacked for ridiculous reasons which also makes department interaction and interaction with all employees at the company terrible. There is no happy atmosphere and … Show More

    Advice to Management

The problem with Rayware is that it was made from 2 guys who chanced their luck and fell lucky with a street trader mentality which still to this day trickles down to staff....No strategy whatsoever. I feel Rayware won't last for another 10-15 years as they cannot keep their current staff, the technology is embarrassing, innovation is slipping and the management are too stuck in old ways to understand times have … Show More

I worked at Rayware full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Staff are great, all employees are helpful and friendly
    Free parking
    Free tea and coffee
    Showers on site
Some really helpful and amazing managers

    Cons

Some managers are horrible and treat their team members as though they are disposable.
There are no pay rises, the company would rather let good staff go than pay them a little extra.

    Advice to Management

Treat staff like humans and not disposable goods

    Pros

Discount on products is good, free hot drinks, nice staff. The new computer systems are brilliant, replacing the old ones previous reviewers have commented on, but still locked down on company wide visibility

    Cons

Poor salary, little structure, too many products. There is a culture of fear and an assumption you're damn lucky to be employed there. Employment is all at statutory minimum, including holidays. They don't compensate time for travel and have very precise and strict working hours, longer than the industry norm. They will not hesitate to break your employment contract illegally but bow quickly when sternly reminded. … Show More

    Advice to Management

Get a proper marketing team and sales leaders with some experience. You can't keep dealing with multiples with the current management structure. As you grow, by chance not by strategic planning, you need more skills and a corporate structure.

At interview, they do a good job of selling the company and tell you that you can achieve loads and influence. In reality they want people who can trade and obey school … Show More

    Cons

Honestly, Rayware was the worst company I have ever worked for. Rayware is ran through fear with people being sacked constantly not because of their work rate but for not being in a clique or fitting the ‘Rayware way’. I noticed one position still on the website for over 2 years. Positions are available through staff being forced to leave or through sacking with no real reason given. The company lacks structure and … Show More

    Advice to Management

It's pointless to give advice as they will not take it. Very stubborn company that thinks they can keep doing what they're doing without any change.

    Pros

As staff you can buy their products at a discount. Worked with some lovely people who I miss. Free hot drinks.

    Cons

Computer system is shocking. Dates back to the eighties and emails crash on a regular basis. No proper HR structure in place. Other departments not interested in providing help when you need information

    Advice to Management

Invest in your computer system, it is by far the worst one I have ever used. Look after your good employees

Free tea and coffee.

Its hardly a ringing endorsement, is it?

Having said that I'd be dead excited about being offered free tea and coffee at work. Or better still, free milk so that the fridges wouldnt be rammed with a thousand different bottles and an end to the bad feeling caused when someone's milk gets stolen
