Get Sanchez and Hoedt. Lots of people saying we need two central defenders. Hurts Spurs and Southampton. Sanchez could be very good indeed, and I would be very surprised if Hoedt isn't at least better than Klavan, perhaps considerably so.

We do need two quality CBs. Those two may be good enough, I don't have a clue to be honest.

But keep in mind that being better than Klavan means you should be able to get a contract at a club like Oldham.

Van Dijk is the only defender left in the whole world apparently.

Liverpool preparing a 12m bid

Liverpool offer klavan, a selection box that john and linda got in christmas 2013 and a 20 euro off voucher for moreno's tattoo artist.

Whole lot of monitoring to do before we get anywhere near underbidding stage..... come on... you know the drill by now.

Shakhtar Donetsk boss Mircea Lucescu has hit out at Kia Joorabchian after six of his players refused to return to Ukraine following a friendly with Lyon.

French TV channel Canal+ reported that Douglas Costa, Fred, Dentinho, Alex Teixiera and Facundo Ferreyra - as well as one more unnamed team-mate - remained in France after Sunday's match.

Shakhtar president Rinat Akhmetov confirmed the news to the R-Sport agency in quotes reported on the club's official website and identified Brazilian defender Ismaily as the sixth player.

Canal+ claimed the players have personal security concerns due to the on-going conflict in Ukraine. Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 was only 31 miles from Donetsk when it came down on Thursday. But Lucescu alleged that Joorabchian convinced the players not to return.

"It is necessary to explain what happened," Lucescu saidon the club's official website. "It is their agents' work. A few hours before the kick-off against Lyon, Kia showed up and after the game, at two in the morning, he took our players away.

"The very talented ones: Teixeira, Douglas, Fred. The rest are not so important. He wanted to do the same to Adriano, Ilsinho, Marlos and Taison, but they refused. Ferreyra has another agent, but he also expects to capitalise on the situation."

Imminent

Barcelona general manager Pep Segura has said the signings of Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele are "close" after watching his side lose to arch-rivals Real Madrid in the Supercopa de Espana final.

Liverpool have remained adamant that Brazilian playmaker Coutinho - who has submitted a transfer request - will not be sold in this transfer window while Borussia Dortmund suspended Dembele after the forward failed to show for training amid links with Barcelona.

However, Segura expressed confidence deals for both players could be done before the transfer window closes.

"We are close to Coutinho and Dembele," he said on Catalan television station TV3. "We are discussing their deals but do not know when it will be done.
