As much as I'd love this to happen I just can't see it. Newcastle with Rafa would be good for him. He might even get another year in the prem out of them.

Agree to a certain extent but would he want to play against us next year if they came up

Rumours today linking us with Julian Brandt of Leverkusen. Apparently he's got a release clause of £12.5 million

Talk to any stats geek and they start wanking at the mere mention of his name.

I reckon that clause thing is bollocks, though.  He's under contract for 3 more years still at Leverkusen.  On the other hand, if it is true (and the German clubs don't seem to have the hang of this buyout clause business yet, as evidenced by Can) then we would have to join a pretty long queue.

We should just set our scouts up there permanently, to be honest.  I'd happily have Tah and Brandt this summer and then Henrichs (a top young right back) and Kai Havertz (even younger central midfielder) the next.  Turn Leverkusen into our Southampton of Germany, if you will.

Echo:

Young German attacking midfielder Julian Brandt has been watched, and impressed Reds scouts at the recent European U19 Championships in Hungary.

But prising the highly-rated 18-year-old away from his club, Bayer Leverkusen, could prove difficult this summer. He is seen as one to be monitored.

This kid looks a prospect, exactly the type of signing we should be investing in.

Oof.
