I don't think there's anyone who doubts a fit and focussed Sturridge would be a very good option for us but hoping he's going to remain injury free (real or phantom injuries) is pure folly. We should have cut our losses on him ages ago.

Sturridge will want his money. His last contract was - surprise - signed after 13/14. He will do OK this season. Irrelevant whether he signs with us or another team thereafter.

Don’t think there is any chance of him being here next season but if he can get 6 to 8 goals off the bench in amongst his injuries well that’s better than Ings and Solanke last season between them.

It's easy to forget how he's only 28. He looks physically different. I heard he has changed his diet and training regimen. I'm thinking back to all the things the Arsenal fans used to say about Robin van Persie (something, something, molest her), how he was good but always injured. Then United got him and he was generally fit. Obviously it could end in tears with him limping off next match, and it'll be back to saying all sorts of shit about him, but I feel like something has changed. If it has, we've got serious quality cover in attack. That's a fucking huge bonus. If he can come on and nick a goal in a few games where we're drawing, it'll be a massive points contribution.

I was amongst the millions of people disappointed to see him starting the game but fair fucks to him, he put a performance in. 

 

He’s no Firmino and he’ll most likely be out for four months any minute now but I’m happy for him and for us tonight.
