Rodgers wanted to build around Sturridge which was a daft idea because he's always injured. Balotelli-Sturridge would have been ace and we've seen it for ~70mins, we bought Mario to play him alongside Sturridge, he's never been a lone striker, that's foreign to him and Rodgers does't make himself any favours by not playing him in a two. He has Borini for that, he can play Sterling and Markovic as strikers, yet he refufes to and all the blame is on the young players because "they don't deliver'. The players are out there, the system is there but Rodgers is too stubborn or arrogant to admit he's been wrong, his lineups are dreadful.

The players that we should have aren't there for what we have spent, but I agree with you Brigant that Rodgers could make much more use of what he does have at his disposal. Pick your two fastest and play them up top. Even if it's a poor imitation of last season it would have been the same style. En este momento the players just seem lost and wander around in a daze. Coutinho has no-one making runs for him. No options. It's static and cumbersome. Very predictable and easy to defend against.

Now it looks like BR favors HIS signings/players over the committee signings because of the reasons... Lallana does fuck all and can't last full game, Lambert is just not good enough and it's cringeworthy watching him for so many games in a row in starting XI, Lovren is just a disgrace. Can can't get a game, Markovic needs a run of games like today NOT out of position, Moreno is ace, Manquillo is our best FB. Rodgers wants to prove something, not fucking sure what though.

There's definitely some evidence that there could be politics going on behind the team selection. There's no way that what we are seeing right now is our best team and formation.

He finally brought Lucas in to shore the midfield up a bit and protect the back four, moving Gerrard further up the pitch where he can impact the game. Only after Carragher told him to on Sky though after the abortion of a performance at Palace. I don't think he can actually figure things out himself unless it's by chance. 

 

Some things appear strange though. Why aren't Sakho and Borini even making the squad? Is Balotelli really injured? Why has Can been bombed out of the side after two very adequate performances against top drawer Madrid and Chelsea teams? Not like we've played 5 shit teams since and had to watch Henderson play most of them instead when his confidence is shot and clearly jaded. That's without even getting into discussing the logic of transfer strategy.

For me, Lambert is more like a nine and a half, a player who drops off the main striker but can also score goals. As an option, he's not a problem. The problem is we didn't sign someone who could replace Sturridge like for like
