On another subject, I'm looking at buying an android box for my lads bedroom and installing XBMC/Kodi from scratch myself. I can get an MXQ S85 for around £30 and I've installed XBMC on the Amazon Fire TV so may give it a whirl, before giving up in a fit of rage and then paying £60 on ebay for a pre-installed box.

Istream is probably missing some extensions. I just installed all of them and the services from xunitytalk repo. Working fine for me. This might help

IceFilms is probably being blocked on your ISP. There was a fix but looks like it may not be working

Genesis is a decent easy to use alternative.

Much better doing it yourself than paying someone to do it for you. At some point you may well have to change something on it anyway. I much prefer just having stuff I will use rather than 500 addons that may or may not work and I have no idea what most of them do.

Spent a bit of time running XBMC with showbox and the sportsbooks thingy. I've got to say, it's not all that nice to use is it? I mean, it's just a list of stuff and streams take five or six clicks to get to the point it actually shows. It's good if you just need something to watch the latest TV shows and can't be arsed downloading or building your own library. For me, though, Plex is way, way better because I've got that library. If I didn't, I'd probably be happy using XBMC (now called Kodi) but it seems more functional than anything else.

Showbox is brand new and will probably improve. A lad I know gave me the link. Not sure if he made it or not.

You can set istream to play with far fewer clicks. Genesis is great as well.

You can also use a local downloaded library with XBMC.

Nothing to stop you using the best of both either. I have not really looked at Plex recently as XBMC is doing everything I want.

Since I'd have to build a library from scratch as well as buying a NAS drive etc.. to get the best out of Plex then it just makes sense to stick with XBMC for now.

I've got it on my telly and my tablet and can pretty much stream any Movie or TV show, usually in HD, within seconds. Even older stuff like Magnum Force and The Long Good Friday is there instantly.

Edit: Genesis is really good as well Cloggy, thanks for posting that. Even the Ice Films streams are running through it for me.

Totally fair, rapey. I think it is about the starting point. I've been building the library for years, so Plex works well for me. You've got xbmc on your devices so no real need.

I can seem to get I stream working on the firerv though. I'd need to improve the ui too. The list thing isn't cutting it for me.

You can change the ui to icons if you prefer it. There are loads of different skins as well if you want a different look.

Yeah, so I'm lead to believe. It would take iffort though. Not crazy on that concept

Nah, what's the best add on for TV shows and films?

I put a list of them a page or so back yer lazy get. Try Genesis.

They all work fine for me here but some may be blocked in the UK. Sugar Ape will be able to say better than me which ones are working well there.

Phoenix is probably worth a look as well. I found a load of old UK TV on it yesterday with Filthy, Rich and Catflap.

IT works fine on the FireTV, so that's all I really need. I only installed Kodi on the Mac to see what the best add ons were. I still don't like the app very much, but fuck it.

I'm just getting intrigued by these Android boxes.

A lad at work has been on about a DroidPlayer M8 fully loaded box you can get from Amazon for about £70. Any good ?

Baring in mind I'm an impatient, bad tempered bastard, whic would be the quickest , easiest option with the best user interface ?

My broadband speed is around 12 mbs, and I would mainly be using it to watch live sport, films etc. Would also be nice if I could plug my 500gb back up hard drive into it for my music.

All help and advice appreciated but please speak English !
