Top Ten Overrated players

10. Anderson- 16 million for a midfield player who can't shoot, has inconsistant passing and isn't excellant defensively, showed great potential in his first season and could still come good which is why he isn't higher in my list but for now not good at all.

9.Emile Heskey- put it this way since 2000/2001 when he was excellent for us his whole career has lived off that form, had he not had that season and the seasons prior to it with Leicester there is no way he would have got the England caps and the transfers he has had since

8.Gareth Bale- obviously a very very good player and you'd have to be stupid to disagree but you see him linked with huge moves with fees previously reserved for only the top players based on what 12 world class games if that in his entire career

7.Aaron Ramsey- just never seen in him what others seem to

6.Shola Ameobi- now everyone apart from his managers seem to know he's shit but hows he has made a mainly premier league career for himself is amazing

5. Gareth Barry- up until his last season at Villa was a very good player but now offers nothing, just a crab

4.John Obi Mikel- Scum must be laughing all the way to the bank on this one, still not worked out what he is meant to do

3.Michael Carrick- another extremely overpriced crab with far too many England caps, ranked higher than Barry due to the fact Barry was once actually good.

2.Robbie Keane- utterly appalling these days but you can guarantee every transfer window when his current club tries to offload him he'll manage a new massive wage slip from which other poor sap takes him on

1.Theo Walcott- put simply if he didn't have pace he wouldn't be near the Premier League, can't pass, can't shoot, can't cross and often falls over his own feet.

Silverlining? "Parker's a better player than Lucas."

Erm, no sorry I take Big issue with that remark. Parker's a 30 something reserve/backup option to the full England midfield who despite his supposed brilliance all season? Is part of a team whose 'Goals against' record is utterly shocking and thus who are about to be deservedly relegated this season. He's been like that all his career actually; Ever since being young player of the year at Charlton and starring in that bloody advert all those years ago before it.

Yes, He'll do well, tackle a lot, score the odd spectacular goal or two for a while and then? He'll Completely disappear from view by getting a long-term injury or putting in a whole series of anonymous/shadow performances that by anyone else are deemed as 'utterly awful' but by one of "England's Midfield Generals?" Is seen by the media as "His Teammates/their lack of qualities" fault or "Just an off-day" for him and "Nothing to worry about" so desperate are they to cover up his inadequacies and defend his good name - Rather like 'Woy' syndrome on the pitch if you know what I mean? No Parker's found his level and it's not remotely close to Lucas who can only improve - For Parker? Their's only one way in his football career now and it's not up...........

As I see it? Parker's nothing special. To compare him to - Never mind say he's better than Lucas? Is utterly ridiculous - Lucas since he matured towards the back-end of last season? Has done it again and again in this league - He's improved his most damaging stat'; His passing under pressure - that last season? Was our great weakness with him in the team - out of all recognition and now simply commands our midfield like the combination of a half-Alonso, half-Mascherano (Or Half Makelele, half Carrick to be more precise) that Rafa' always knew he would be and more mobile than either. Lucas commands our passing rhythm with his short-passing now (it's not a coincidence either that as more & more pass-friendly players have been deployed in our side? He's improved still further either); Lucas also now? tackles like a machine and gets forward to cause havoc a fair bit now as well.

Lucas now compared to a few years ago? Well just look at him. He's dominated, overpowered and dismantled midfields all over the country from Chelsea (Twice), Man United, Arsenal at the top of the list down to the likes of the Hammers themselves, Aston Villa and he completely destroyed Birmingham in the middle on Saturday by taking apart their 3 man midfield on his own with probably his best ever performance for us.

No, ignore the tabloid press who'll never admit they were always completely wrong about him but? Lucas is now several galaxies better than Parker any day of the week and a regular in the Brazilian national side now, Parker? Can't normally get into the England side - That says it all really. That and the fact that if Lucas played for the Hammers in place of Parker? They'd probably be pushing for Europe rather than staring the trapdoor square in the face by now...........

No If you want overrated players? Try Half of Arsenal's forward line - Namely Nicklas Bendtner and Maurouane Chamakh - Now there is a pair that are hyped far, far beyond what they can actually do and are two of the main reasons that team of bottling-specialists aren't going to win the title yet again.

I'd probably put Lee Cattermole for Sunderland, A certain Mr F. Torres (in his current state anyway), Chris Brunt and Scott Carson at WBA and Ben Foster at Brum' are in that category as well whilst Joleon Lescott? Fits like a glove. There's a few to be going on with. All IMO? Players that were hyped up far beyond what they should have been with no good reason whatsoever.

Redshadow, I love this post so much I'm quoting it in full.

"Woy syndrome on the pitch" is a work of genius.

Four pages and noone has mentioned Gabi Agbonlahor? Man United bid for him two years ago, yet i can't see for the life of me what his reputation has been based upon.

Glen Johnson and Joe Cole would certainly be on my list.

But top of the lot would have to be Robbie Keane - one of the most transferred players in global football history, subject of FIVE moves of more than £10m, a massive ego to boot, yet for that you get a man hopelessly out of his depth at any decent footballing club.

Really interesting thread. Can I just say that it's daft to call players who are injured or out of form over-rated. Over-rated (to me) means they never were that good on a consistent basis. The likes of Buffon, Kaka and Gerrard are not over-rated!

Casillas - I guess he has an enhanced reputation by captaining Spain, but he's not that great and nowhere near Buffon at his best. Had things turned out differently, Pepe could easily be Spanish no.1.

John Terry - Good solid defender and leader on the pitch but that's it. Really not that great.

Frank Lampard - Yes he scores lots of goals (inc penalties) but he's a bit of a luxury. He just doesn't dominate a midfield.

Ashley Young - Pace and good set-piece ability. Otherwise? Very one-footed and not a great dribbler.

Charlie Adam - Great left-foot I'll give him that. Anything else?

Jack Wilshere and Marco Arnautovic

Arnautovic is really good.

Wilshere is one of the most overhyped players of all time. He's scored about five goals in his career, the absolute bum.

Most over rated currently, off the top of my head.

Cavani

Pogba

Neymar (quality, but nowhere near as good as he's made out to be)

Dier

Lloris

Walker

Ozil

Pickford

Higuain

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. THE flat-track bully of the BL/PL. Falls firmly in the Walcott pace merchant category. Will continue to disappear into decent defenders' back pocket as the season goes on.

Forgot about him, but totally agree. I quite like Lacazette but I'm not buying into this fella at all.

This season...

Wilfred Zaha - Isn't consistent enough to be considered a top player.

Jorginho - He can pass a ball but what else can he do?

Luke Shaw - Shit. Case of fat cunt with lashings of too much, too soon.

Shkodran Mustafi - Awful and clueless. A dangerous combination.

Hector Bellerin - He runs fast, that's it.

Jesse Lingard - Mr fucking parrot head himself. Crap, and he's a grown man not a kid.

Alvaro Morata - Has no discernible ability.

Luciano Vietto - The Argentinian Shane Long

Jordan Pickford - Too small to be a keeper - Courtois was right.

Eric Dier - Scott Parker syndrome.
