I think the Alonso to Turkey story is about trying to either

 

1) Drum up interest in a move back to spain

 

or

 

2) make it look like we have to sell to Buy Barry and then suprise suprise we start with both players in the side come August

 

I think the Alonso to Turkey story,is a figment of dennis tooths imagination!

 

And not for the 1st time in the last 24hrs.

So this has stalled then?

 

Doesnt look like he is coming......

 

Reports state that Gareth Barry had a wank last night in bed, it is not known whether he came or not. Martin O' Neill was unavailable for comment on the matter. Rafael Benitez was asked for his opinion on the matter but stated "I prefer not to talk about this, we scored four goals today and I am not concerned whether Barry emptied his sack or not, I prefer to talk about my team"

Anyone else see Wenger being asked about Barry at Emirates Cup press conference? He said he was efter an experienced midfielder and then just smiled when asked about Barry....I think they might go after him

 

Maybe he was smiling because he wants Alonso and the press were barking up the wrong tree.

I would puke if we sold Xabi to Arsenal. I can see why they would want him mind of course, but we should never be selling players like Alonso to Arsenal. I doubt Rafa would though. He might not be a player Rafa wants himself right now, but he knows his quality nonetheless. I think if we sell it will be to a foreign club.

Dave said last night that Alonso has been hawked around Europe by Macia but he has steadfastly refused to go to any club they choose. He is holding out for a big club and if not won't move at all. Good on the lad.

 

I think Arsenal would be a good move for him. The London Evenin Standard (Arsenal's mouthpiece) said last week that Alonso is the man they want but they are waiting for LFC to get desperate for cash for Barry.

 

A midfield of Nasri, Alonso, Fabregas and Rosicky is not bad when you look at their style of play... it would strengthen them as Alonso is better than Flamini and Gilberto.

Look this team Rafa is building has no room for passengers and that means players playing at the top of their game week in week out not a handful of good games in two seasons.

 

We need everyone at their best if we are to win the league and if Alonso was at the top of his game for the last couple of seasons then maybe Rafa would not be looking at signing Barry.

 

I thought Xabi looked good when he came on yesterday but he was playing in the Gerrard role allowed to get forward which he normally excels at.

 

I rate Xabi very highly and i would love him to stay but the lad has to pick his game up as he is capable of much more and Rafa knows this.

We are in talks with Villa today to close the deal and to get permission to talk to Gareth. Looks like 17 fee million raising to 18.5 including finnan.. Although were just waiting for Villa to come back to us over a term we have put to them.

 

We are looking to give Barry a 4 year deal.

 

Rafa wants Barry on Tuedays plane to Norway, although Rafa is aware he has a lot concern over Barrys condition due to lack of training, games.
