What is the intent of this invasion?

 

Israel will kill thousands of innocent civilians, and leave millions of survivors in the rubble.

 

They will kill some but not all of Hamas.

 

And even if they did kill every member of Hamas, whoever replaces them will be just as bad, if not worse.

They are under pressure to do something big, because their doctrine has always been they must respond to any attack in such a way that whoever attacked them will think twice about repeating it. So they probably intend to destroy all of the Hamas underground infrastructure they believe exists.

2. Eliminate Hamas.
