I cannot fathom the Ings deal at all. From our side it looks great. We get the money we wanted and he doesn't play against us this season. Might as well have just sold him but agreed not to pay for 12 months in which time he can't play against us. There must be some kind of clause? Or maybe Edwards/Moore/whoever are just geniuses.

Agreed . Obviously be better if he was sold outright but at least he's effectively Southampton's problem now

I didn't know Southampton is his boyhood club. Perhaps cutting them some slack to get the deal done was for Ings' sake. I wonder if there are clauses attached to an injury recurrence, which would be perfectly understandable in Danny's case. It would also show a club like Lyon that Liverpool can be reasonable in such a situation when the shoe is on the other foot.
