After a slow start and being exclusively deployed as a winger, I was pretty concerned. The only logical move was to deploy him as an 8. He’s come on leaps and bounds, his ability to win the ball back and speed in transition are real hallmarks of a Klopp side. Really enjoying him in there, ahead of Wijnaldum, Milner and Emre for me.

I believe you’re right.

Always thought of him as an attacking player. Versatile, could play in different positions up front. Didn’t see him as a more central midfielder competing for his place in the team with Gini, Henderson and Can.

He’s reading the game well, makes clever decisions when defending and is a pretty good tackler. As you say his place in this team is not in attack but more like a box to box midfielder. Could well be our best midfielder at the moment.

I really disapproved when we signed him. Only now am I beginning to realize I may have been wrong

I might start to consider I'm wrong if he ever displaces our average midfielders and performs consistently in the team.

Not a single soul could say the above has happened.  I do like what I hear from him, more than what I see.  His Coutinho interview was a nice touch and being critical of his average all round display against Swansea was promising when some would be loving the limelight after a goal,

I like him, as a personality and a player.

His attitude is impressive, as is his honesty off the field.

Against Swansea, I don't think he played very well when he had the ball.  He's much better than he showed that day.

But without the ball he was Lallana-esq in his energy and pressing.  That's what I want to see from him, playing in that attacking CM role and doing a Lallana type job.

He's not a finisher, his career stats would show this.  So I thought it was unlikely he'd be a success here playing in the front three.  Especially competing with Mane, Salah and Coutinho in those wide positions.

But deeper, it's less about getting goals.  More about creating chances and he can do that.  It's about pressing, working hard and he is a very good dribbler.

His confidence I feel is low.  I also wonder if Klopp is doing a Gomez type thing with his body, making him have less bulk to improve his mobility.  I remember he told Gomez he bulked up too much and needed to reduce the muscle.  Ox looks similar to me.  But he's improving, he;s got plenty of talent and I think if he keeps working hard, getting more confident more of that talent will come out.  We've seen glimpses, such as his goal vs Swansea.

Hugely impressed by that myself.... Very good sign.

This is very Lallana-esq.

Pressing, forcing an error in which Firmino should have scored from the chance.

It won't go down in the stats as an assist or interception, but Ox forced that mistake and sent us on a quick counter attack in a dangerous position.

A better player than, Gini (not hard admittedly), Can and Henderson.

He never has nor probably ever will play as a six for us, so you may as well compare him to Mignolet than Henderson and Can.

Wijnaldum had more of an impact last season than this chap ever has but hasn't pushed on this season at all.

He's been bought to play in midfield.  He'll never get on the wing if the others are fit and we certainly havn't dropped that money on a back-up.

The only impact Gini had last Season was the goal against Southampton was it in the last game.

He's better than Gini and Henderson, Can I'm not so sure but they play the game differently so it's hard to compare.

I'm not quite sure why our fans think that if a player isn't a world-beater then they must be rubbish. You need some good, solid squad players and he's certainly good enough for that. He's also young enough that he could develop into a pretty good (not great, but still) starter for us.

I'm quietly surprised how good he is and I'm glad we bought him, and I wasn't sure I'd ever say that when he came.
