Only got your word the date SM , it could have been yesterday looking at that photo.

The white shop in the background says SPENCER. It hasn't been that for quite some time. It's a beauty salon business up for sale now (I'm a regular at Waterfields).

I'm surprised nobody has said 'I would' regarding the girl in the photo.

Love it. The Reina del Pacifico was one of the ships my dad sailed on.

I think this is the ship that there is a photo of on the fireplace of the cornmarket pub in town, and the pub has some of the lovely old wooden paneling from the ship saved when it was scrapped.

Cool Bro!

My dad was an 18 yr old cadet.

He eventually got his own command for PSNC - on the Eluthera. Also 1st Officer on the Cotopaxi and Flamenco.

That is brilliant.

I have a letter opener made from some Teak paneling of HMS Invincible - Battle Of Jutland 1916. My Grandad survived Jutland.

Another picture with a Liverpool connection. Basil Rathbone, born in South Africa, actually served in the Liverpool Scottish Regiment, one of only two South Africans to do so.

Now I'm going for a lie down and a good think about my life.

My biggest miss is the Satterthwaites in Bootle & Waterloo where I used to work.

Having made an effort to get to Sattersthwaites I can now render a verdict.

Sausage Rolls - meh, not impressed.

Steak & Potato Pie - excellent, with deep and tasty filling.

Custard-filled, Icing-covered Roundy Things - absolutely lovely.

Barms - really nice, some of the best I've had.

Aaaaaand....

Chicken Curry Pastie - I'm in love, awesome.
