Article in the Telegraph lists LFC as sixth most valuable club in the world after the Mancs, Real, Arsenal, Barcelona and Bayern. This is based on a combination of assets and future earning power. No doubt with the stadium in place we'd be challenging for the top spot.

This makes an interesting balance to all the articles and rhetoric of financial crisis.

Forbes reveals most valuable soccer clubs

For the sixth year in a row, Manchester United is No. 1 on Forbes magazine's list of the highest-valued clubs in the world:

1. Manchester United: $1.8 billion

2. Real Madrid: $1.3 billion

3. Arsenal: $1.1 billion

4. Barcelona: $1 billion

5. Bayern Munich: $990 million

6. Liverpool: $822 million

7. AC Milan: $800 million

8. Juventus: $656 million

9. Chelsea: $646 million

10. Inter Milan: $413 million

"Amid the recession woes affecting other sports, soccer's sponsorships and broadcast rights continue to flourish, with combined revenue growing by $36 million in the 2008-09 season. Despite the large amount of debt most clubs accrue, investors are continuing to pick up teams around the globe, due in large part to soccer's growth prospects in emerging markets."

So assuming thats for 40,000.... so 60,000 will be worth 68m, thats not counting catering, beer etc....

how would that takes us closer to second place?

It'd be much more than 68m because the real money maker is the corporate stuff. But you're right 2nd is a long way off.

When I went on the Anfield tour I got told United make the same amount from executive boxes in 3 games, that we take a season. The guide also added it was the reason they can afford to buy shite like Berbatov.

Plus at the time they had 20 corporate sponsors (i.e. companies giving them free money) while we had 1.

I pray we don't have as many Exec box's as Arsenal, i read somewhere they had 120 boxes?

Why? What's the problem with people paying extra money to watch the match from a box? It brings in a lot of money.

Still, suppose we could just charge £5 a ticket for everyone and get relegated.
