He genuinely is one of the weirdest players I've ever seen, so appreciating his talents takes an extra few seconds. Once you do though, you really have to be impressed with how much of a beast he is.

 

I don't know why people would let him fuck off the SPL, I'd loan him out within the PL and give him a shot here. He doesn't seem the Brendan type but having a "type" at all is restrictive, I feel. Its always good to have "options", as one ex-manager used to say, and having an option as odd as Ngoo could be bloody useful.

Every time I have watched Ngoo, which is not a lot, I have been excited and frustrated all at the same time. He has power and pace but often gets lost in front of goal. But he's still young and a good prospect. It would be a mistake selling him at this stage. A loan to pl club would do him a world of good.

'I could be Brendan's Plan B'

 

Michael Ngoo is hoping to use an appearance in the Scottish League Cup final on Sunday as a springboard to show Brendan Rodgers he could be a useful member of his squad next season.

 

The on-loan striker is enjoying a fruitful spell with Hearts and the supporters have taken him to their hearts.

 

The Academy starlet netted three goals in his first four appearances and such is his popularity at Tynecastle the club have produced an Ngoo T-shirt which supporters are planning to wear on Sunday.

 

Ngoo is expected to be in the starting XI alongside another on-loan Red, Danny Wilson, for the Scottish Communities League Cup final against St. Mirren on Sunday.

 

The pair are hoping to make history as the Edinburgh club bid to win the trophy for the first time in 50 years, and Ngoo is out to make his mark.

 

"I can't wait for the day to come," said Ngoo.

 

"It's a dream come true to be playing at Hampden in a cup final - my first ever cup final.

 

"Maybe Brendan might be looking for other things in his team, like height and strength, so hopefully I have done enough to be considered in his plans for next season.

 

"I'm glad that I've been a challenge for very good defenders in my first ever top-flight run. I'm still young, I'm 20, and if I keep working and practising then I could be a Plan B for Liverpool.

 

"They have DVDs of all of my performances. Even if they don't get to the game they'll see the DVD and I am always getting texts from the staff at Liverpool."

 

The 6ft 6in striker, who joined the club from Southend United, is very appreciative of the advice from former Reds boss Kenny Dalglish - who he cites as a big influence.

 

He added: "Kenny was a big influence as Academy manager at Liverpool.

 

"We had a lot of conversations and he used to come out and train with us from time to time. He was always around and passing on great advice. He was absolute quality in training.

 

"He would always have a laugh and a joke, but when he started doing the tricks and skills you could see how good he was."

 

Dalglish took the Academy youngsters down to Wembley last season for the League Cup final and Ngoo admits it was an experience he cherished.

 

"All the Liverpool reserve players went to watch at Wembley and celebrated with the boys afterwards," he added.

 

"Of course I wanted to be out there - every player wants to experience that sort of big occasion - but I have to acknowledge the fact that I am young and still learning the game and trying to get experience.

 

"It's good to learn off good players and go to big games. You need to soak up everything those players do and apply it when you get your own chance.

 

"They travelled back because the league was still going on - we celebrated on the way back on the train, we passed the cup around and everyone was taking pictures and singing and there was a bit of champagne."

 

As he prepares to step out in a cup final in his own right at the home of Scottish football, Ngoo is hoping to make a big impression.

 

He added: "It's not the same as playing. It will be very different on Sunday and I need to step up to the mark. I have a few of my friends coming up. A few of the players wanted to come up, but they can't because of training but they'll all be watching on TV."

Stick him on the bench at some point, chuck him on, see how he goes. His legs confuse him so a centre half won't have a chance.

He is the perfect bench player and is guaranteed to cause mayhem at set pieces and direct play late on. Plus, his height would be useful in defending set pieces.

 

He may never be a first choice player but the point if having a squad is that you have a few specialists for certain situations.

We need more physicality and we need more height in the team. He would give us both. He is also quite quick and good with his feet. Definitely worth keeping around.

Guess he'll be back with the U21s now, maybe Brendan will even give him some time at Melwood. I suspect he'll be moving on in the summer though.
