Emergency Ward 10 - The Injuries Thread

From Paul Joyce:

"Jürgen Klopp’s problems before Liverpool’s trip to Brighton & Hove Albion have intensified with Darwin Núñez emerging as a doubt for the fixture after missing training sessions.

The Uruguay striker has been absent for a number of days with an unspecified issue and, while the indications are that the problem is not overly serious, his participation at the Amex Stadium on Saturday is in jeopardy."

This is the best part though given how he was only out with a 'little thing' and he himself said he was fit ages ago....

"Roberto Firmino is also still sidelined."

So if this is true that is 4 of our 6 forwards all out injured.

This fucking season.

Firmino still out....which given what has been said by Klopp and Firmino himself is laughable.

From todays press conference,

On Roberto Firmino's recovery: "It was a little injury at first, estimated 10 days to two weeks and then Bobby felt something again so that'll be longer. He is not close to team training."

It is just a joke now - the fitness/injury/recovery side of this football club is an absolute joke now.

Can only hope club are looking at it and will sort it

That says more about the number of games you have to play in a short space of time than whether Firmino's injury is minor or not.

That's still less than two weeks.

Aye but what about now...

It was just nailed on sadly IMO as soon as he was not ready when originally expected that there was a problem - and here we are today and he "isn't even close to training"....

Even more than the owners not spending more, all this carry on is my biggest worry. What the actual fuck is going on? I’m sure it must be statistically improbable for a team to have so many, regarded as starters or certainly potential starters, out with fucking injuries. We even bring in injured players on loan. Appalling.

The Liverpool boss revealed striker Darwin Nunez is 'very close' to making a return, but the Wolves clash may come too soon for the Uruguayan.

James Milner is in contention for a starting spot at Molineux after being named among the substitutes in Saturday’s game, while Stefan Bajcetic is also available having recovered from a hip problem.

Luis Diaz, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota, Virgil van Dijk and Arthur Melo remain sidelined for the Reds.

I look forward to despite Nunez 'being very close' for this him subsequently still not being fit for Saturday....

Klopp: Darwin is very close, but it's Monday and tomorrow is the game, [but] he's very close.

Latest from ward 10...

Fucking Firmino situation is laughable..

Jürgen Klopp has offered an update on the progress of Luis Diaz, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and Virgil van Dijk in their recovery from injury.

All four are making encouraging steps with their rehabilitation but still remain unavailable for selection.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday morning, the Reds boss said: "Closer, yes, of course closer.

"Luis takes longer but Diogo, Bobby and Virgil, a couple of weeks and [then they] can join training, and then we have to see how quick it goes from there."

Klopp was also asked about the status of Arthur Melo, who has been sidelined with a calf issue since October.

He said: "I would say pretty good, so he’s running a lot. Two or three weeks, I think, maybe until he can join team training.

"But it looks good for a while already. So it was now a long injury and he needs a proper build-up. He was not a part of team training or whatever.

"Fabio Carvalho is obviously out. He has a little thing. Did anybody tell me that he can train today? I don't think so, but maybe he can train today but he will not be 100 per cent ready for the weekend.

"Millie was not in training for one day but he's fine – there was no injury reason. Nat has a proper, proper cold."
