Sessegnon might go on to be an excellent player but £15m for a 16 year old is taking the piss, to put it mildly.

Makes you wonder how much an 18 year old Rooney would go for in today's market.

Deli Alli went for next to nothing and is probably worth about 50 million now. It's no wonder clubs are wanting crazy prices for their youngsters.

if we cancelled his contract now and just let him leave for fuck all would we be any worse off?...he has become totally useless to us...1 league goal this season - which regrdless of whether that is down to him not being fit or not being picked is basically no use to us.

Ok, Mbappe it is then. And Keita. And Brandt. And Sessegnon.

If Lovren gets a new contract (did that already happen?) we might forego the central defender, but hopefully with Keita in there they will be better protected anyway. And maybe Gomez will kick on, which is reasonable to expect.

Mbappe is already too good for us unfortunately. He'll either go to Madrid/Barca/Bayern or whoever wants to fork out 50m+.

Brandt looks pretty good from the CL matches and videos I've seen. He has pace but he's not rapid. He looks a good footballer. Not too far away in style from other german wide attacking midfielders e.g., Reus and Draxler in that he likes to cut in and pick out runners.

I'm not that arsed about Brandt, he doesn't look like he has the pace to be a Mané replacement. He's probably one bad injury away from having to play as a number ten and we've already got enough of those.

I think we should bring in Adama Traore too. He was devastating against us.

Brandt is still pretty raw, Imo. The only thing he is really good at right now is dribbling. I have doubts that he could make a real difference early on, but he's obviously a long-term project

Long-term projects are only a worthwhile addition if you ensure a genuine focus on the short-to-medium term too. Otherwise you fall into the trap our that club has done, which is to always be looking towards a future that never actually arrives.

Speaking of Brandt, if you're looking for good young talented players who haven't necessarily picked up a lot of hype (and the high price that goes with it) yet, Leverkusen also have a midfielder named Kai Havertz who looks really, really good.

Maybe a bit young to make a move to Liverpool at 17, and we already have a surfeit of good young attacking midfielders, but I think he'll be special one day.  Heard a lot about him and then watched him for the first time last night.  He laid on two beautiful assists in an excellent overall game.  At 17 in the Bundesliga!  Going to be a great player if that's any indication at all.

Actually, if we're negotiating with Leverkusen we should just try to get a package deal discount and buy half their team.  I'd have Havertz, Brandt obviously, Tah is going to be a top CB, the fullback Henrichs would be a good buy ... they have a LOT of top young players.

Henrichs looked real good against Spurs. Bayern need a full back this summer though. I was really impressed by Baumgartlinger too. A real combative defensive midfielder. Your thoughts on him?
