Fucking love them. Great craic if you get a good crew and it's well put together with decent questions.

 

Last night however there were cunts using smartphones, this is something that I fucking despise. What motivates someone to go to a quiz(charity quiz no big prizes) and use the Internet? Cretins the lot of them. Our clean team came second to mongs beside us who searched every question.

I go to a couple a week usually, bloody love 'em, me. Got a pretty good team together and for the whole of 2011 we saved all the money we won on one of the quizzes and ended up with nearly £1000. Paid for the 6 of us to go to Barcelona for 4 days a few weeks ago, where we saw a certain sportsman break a record in a certain competition against a certain German team. So far this year, it doesn't look like we'll have enough to go to Bognor Regis. Such is the fickle world of pub quizzing.

I used to run a weekly quiz for students in the Excelsior in Dale Street a few years back. It was a fucking hoot (but not perfectly compatible with doing a proper, grown-up 9 to 5 job).

 

Never had smartphones in my day, like. I would have broken the bastard's fingers if I'd caught anyone trying to use one to cheat.

Haven't been to one in ages. Down here they are either in gastropubs full of young parents who bring their children and have dropped them off for an hour while they get out of the house. Or town pubs with students cheating on it smartphones.

 

The pub quiz has fucking had it, music rounds fucked thanks to Shazam, general knowledge due to Wiki, I have fuck all interest in most pop culture (ie talent shows) and as remmie says even picture quizzes are defunct.

I put together a footy quiz for my team's Xmas do and it was fucking ace. Definitely going to have another in at it. Did one round where you got a picture and had to name the scorer, year, comp, round and opponent. Another with line-ups from famous games with missing players. It was ace, even if I do say so myself.
