Giggs or Overmars in their prime?

Was always an Overmars man myself. Giggs had more strings to his bow in terms of hugging the touchline and whipping crosses in, but Overmars was lethal in front of goal, more of a third striker really.

Remember years ago when we got Kewell and Chelsea got Duff, both supposedly wanted by the Mancs as Gigg's replacement? He is still going on strong now, while the other two younger players are closer to retirement than he is.

Overmars at his peak was better than Giggs at his. But Giggs has been far more consistent for much, much longer.

There was a period a few years ago when Giggs wasn't playing well, the crowd was getting on his back, and he was rumoured to be close to moving to Inter.

 

Now look at him.

 

Er, to answer the question, er.....dunno. Giggs had three or four seasosn when he smashed in quite a few goals, but more than a few when he got nowhere near double figures, so his goalscoring has always been erratic, despite his genius.

 

Overmars was a steady goal every four games player, but for some reason he did seem more clinical than Giggs.

Not that Overmars was rubbish, just that Giggs was and is really really good. One of this generation's best Premier League footballers.

Both terrific players, no question. Overmars was unlucky that he suffered a series of bad injuries that really cut short his career. Giggs has looked after himself well to be able to continue playing as long as he has, but it is important to point out that he gets every summer off what with his national team never qualifying for anything, and him being highly selective as to when and how often he chose to play for them.

Giggs by some distance. Overmars was good and minus the nasty injury early in his career could have been better.

 

Begrudgingly Giggs with the exception of a few poor by his standard seasons has been great for nigh on 15 to 20 seasons. The Cunt.
