  1. Lol yeah. Ban all 12 clubs from next season's Champions league! I can't wait to see a CL with Leicester, West Ham, Everton, Leeds, Villa and Wolves as the representative of the league, with Serie A represented by Atalanta, Napoli and Lazio and the La Liga represented by Sevilla, Real Sociedad and Betis. This joke of a competition will very well prove the 12 clubs right, that their names and presence is the very draw of the Champions League.
  2. Unfortunately, the only way to stop our best players leaving is to be owned by a Billionaire. You don't see Real or Barca trying to swipe players from Chelsea or City. Arsenal have practically all their best players taken by Real, Barca, Chelsea, City (and the Mancs) in recent years. Even the Mancs could not hold on to Ronaldo. The Mancs are lucky IMO, for having one generation of Giggs, Scholes, Beckham, Butt and the Neville bros that has been around practically since Fergie started winning. All their world class players have come and gone, like Ronaldo, Van Nistlerooy, Staam, and now perhaps even Rooney. Our closest to them are Gerrard and Carra. Unfortunately, we're nearing the tail end of even Gerrard's career. Without a Billionaire, the best we can do is what we are doing now, buying young and selling high. At least we are in the "mid" tear of top clubs, where we buy from other "lower" top clubs such as Ajax, Porto etc and selling to "higher" top clubs like Real, Barca, and unfortunately City and Chelsea (and perhaps PSG). Money talks. However, these clubs all play fantasy football, and will have to sell cheap those who don't fit. But just because they don't fit doesn't mean they aren't class. So we buy young, sell high, and try to get world class hand me downs. That is the way to sustainability until we can afford similar wages as those clubs.
  3. Whenever our best player is being sold to a "bigger" club, we should hit them back where it hurts. When Inter "sold" Ibrahimovic" to Barca, they got in return Eto'o and 43 million. So if we are forced to sell Suarez, let it be for 40 million PLUS either Higuain or Benzema. Hell, why not Kaka? If not a star player, maybe 40 mil plus 3 of Real's best young talents that are good enough to play for the first team but are blocked by their galacticos. Clubs like Real and Barca will always pick on even the top British clubs, however every time they do, they have to let go class players. When they rebuilt their Galacticos a few years ago, they let go Robben and Sneijder. Both class (but cunts) Hell, with 40 mil, and Barca buying Neymar, there would be some interesting players on sale in Barca too, like Villa, Alexis Sanchez, Afellay.... I am not convinced by Tello though we are linked to him repeatedly.
  4. Agreed. I find it inspiring how Rafa can walk into a club, where all the fans absolutely hate him, and yet do a great job. Nerves of steel that one I'm always suspicious when the media gives our current managers such an easy time (Rodgers, Hodgson). They seem so pleased we've faded into mediocrity
  5. Stupid red card Jonjo went in with one foot sideways, and the other trailing, while Evans went in studs up two footed But of course Shelvey is the one red carded
  6. I reckon everyone has gotten their head stuck up their arse by all the media bullshit What good defense and midfield? We've conceeded at least 2 goals in our first 3 matches!! If anything, forget a goalscorer, if we had clean sheets but could not score, we would be 2 points higher than we are right now All this tiki taka bullshit works for Barca, because they have Barca level players It hasn't worked for any other team in the world except Spain, which is pretty much made up of Barca players anyway. For all the plundits Swansea got last season, they still ended up below us. That is NOT a team we should be trying to emulate. If we wanted possession football, Rafa's teams are notorious for possession football. However, at least Rafa is flexible enough to have a plan B, namely a big guy up front ala Crouch. Instead, we loaned out Carroll. Brilliant!! In previous years, post Rafa, we still had our match winners, not only Torres, but also Kuyt, Benayoun and Maxi, who each could contribute 10 goals a season from midfield. Gerrard too could be relied upon for that, but not anymore. Now, we really are dumbstruck for goalscorers. And yet on top of that, our defense is crap even with talents such as Reina, Skrtel, Agger etc. If its not the players, its the system/manager. Simple as

  8. No. Fed up of English players. All overrated and overpriced. I would rate Walcott the same. I remember years ago, during Houllier's years, thinking "now we have the best English players in Owen and Gerrard, wouldn't it be nice to get the other great up and coming talents like Kewell and Joe Cole?" Kewell, Joe Cole, Robbie Keane, Pennant..... we should learn our lesson by now. We dodged the bullet the many times we were linked with Shawn Wright Phillips I would rather have several cheap foreign alternatives. Not all of them will work out, but by fluke, one or two might
  9. While with Rafa, we added world class players year by year. First year Alonso. Second year Reina. Third year Torres & Mascherano... etc With BR, by the 4th year we might finally manage buy the whole Swansea squad.
  10. If FSG really wanted money ball football, they would have gotten Rafa back. Simple as Look at all the money generated from all Rafa's players. Alonso, Mascherano, Torres. Besides Suarez, the only other players worth anything if sold are Reina, Skrtel, Agger and Lucas. Everyone knows that Gerrard and Carra probably won't be worth much these days. We know that most of Dalglish's buys besides Suarez won't be worth half what we paid for. I am also certain Allen and Borini at most can be sold at the same price we paid for them. Even if they get Rafa back now, it will take years rebuilding again, now that we've lost the majority of his good players. Even the players that could be relied on to save our skin in tough games, like Kuyt, Maxi and Benayoun are gone. Sad, but the last time we could have turned things around was when Dalglish first got in. We should have kept Mereiles and kept using Maxi and Kuyt with Suarez and built on that pass and move style. Dalglish's buys last season were a disaster, buy British indeed. Alonso, Torres, Mascherano, a prime Gerrard, Reina, Skrtel, Agger.... I don't think we will see the likes of their quality again. I am happy we somehow got Suarez, but with additions like Allen and Borini to play the great Swansea way, we won't be seeing him in red for long. I knew it was a mistake the moment we got a manager that the press agrees with. Its Hodgson all over again, with all the tiki taka hype (as if he created the style). Fuck we played possession football under Rafa too you know, and we too struggled with lots of possession but not the goals, until we got Torres. Its the same story all over again, but with inferior players.
  11. 'You look at the teams from the 1980s, and if they passed the ball backwards to keep possession, (the fans) applauded, because they are educated and they understand. 'In that sense, it is the perfect club for me.' - Brendan Rodgers Read more: Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers meets players for pre-season training | Mail Online
  12. Rafa tried to play nice. He signed the contract and we went on to the craziest scoring streak in recent memory. He was also promised funds to buy better players. However, we came short by 4 points, the owners thought "hey thats good enough", and the whole thing went to bits As the manager, he's damned if he does (qualify and keep the fuckers in business), and damned if he doesn't (not qualify and lose his job) Broughton et all wouldn't be able to do jack shit if we qualified for the CL. We would be able to convince the bank, based on previous years doing well in the CL under Rafa, that they would be able to pay the loan.
  13. Lets see.... a manager who actually wants to win stuff. How anti-Liverpool is that eh? Show me what you can blame Rafa for, and show me why you think whatever it is, he didn't do it with intention to create a winning side I see a manage who tried his best, came close but short, due to incompetence and lack of support from the top.
  14. And where did those losers end up on the table this year? Their manager has a better record than our new one in dealing with restrained resources and keeping them in a sound position year after year.
