Yeah, he'd be mad to sign for us at the moment. If he went to anyone here I reckon it would be the Mancs. If we had another manager and were showing signs of achieving something on the pitch then we might have a chance, but right now? I doubt it.

I don't think we should be looking to sign players at his level at the moment. We only need to sign 3 or 4 players who are better than players in the current first eleven. That shouldn't be difficult or expensive.

If you can get a quality player on the cheap as a result of his contract situation why the hell shouldn't we be looking to sign him?

Pre-ah-cisely the rub.

If those defending Roy don't expect him to be here next year why shouldn't we be in for him?

All the rumours are that he'll go in the summer not the January.

He definately wouldn't be the first player to sign for a club knowing the manager was getting the sack before the manager did.

We're in ninth place in our league, without Champions League this season or (quite possibly) next. The other clubs who're rumoured to be in for him are significantly better at the moment. And probably more inclined to pay silly wages.

I don't disagree with a word of that.

Doesn't mean we shouldn't try. We have to get rid of this defeatist attitude at the club quick fucking smart.

He doesn't fit in with NESV's transfer strategy though.

He's 27 years old, would be expensive and have no resale value at all.

I think the policy thing is a general rule but quality players like him are the exception, not saying we will sign him but he is the type of player we should be going for.

I think the whole thing is more value for money and he fits into that category.
