Money Ball - 7/10 : Thought it was pretty good. Nice story that was helped by the fact it was true. Enjoyed it.

Captain America - 6/10 : Good action and special effects, etc. Switch the brain off and enjoy type of thing.

One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest - 9.5/10 : I’ve no good reason for marking it down from 10/10 other then I don’t think any movie can ever be totally perfect, but it’s just an amazing film some phenomenal performances. One of my very favourites.

Cannibal Holocaust - 6/10.Exploitation exploitation exploitation!

Shit gets crazy in the jungle with some mongish filmmakers. Pretty intense gore for the time it was made and although now it is a bit dated it is utterly insane regardless. Word to the wise do NOT commit adultery on your jungle spouse!

points docked for unnecessary animal rituals/killings though, probably the hardest part to watch. I felt like a sick cunt wanting to watch this but who doesn't love a bit of exploitation of natives though at the end of a long day?

Watched it once a few years ago. Won't be watching it again. Has a great soundtrack though.

Trainspotting - Really is a superb film, probably the best British film of the past twenty years, although the film omits large chunks of Welsh's book it's a still a great adaptation.

Have you read Porno, the sequal ?

Oh, and I cannot fucking wait for the release later this year of Filth.

Funny you mention this now.

I've wanted to watch this for years but not got around to do it yet.

Decided to go for the Grindhouse Releasing 25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition but it's been out of print for a while now, so I ended up with the blu-ray released by Shameless Screen Entertainment last September.

It's including a new directors cut without the animal killing.

Ordered it before the weekend so it should arrive within the week.

Guest The Chimp

The Sandlot 3. Really enjoyed it. An excellent family 'feel-good' film. I think it's actually on YouTube as well. If you've an hour and a half to spare you could do a lot worse. 8/10.

Avengers.

Amazing, every character has plenty to do and is written correctly, the storyline makes sense and is cohesive, loads of little nods and winks to the fans whilst not being confusing for non-fans, it's seriously laugh out loud funny in about 10 places.

Not only the best comic book movie ever made, but probably the best action movie ever made, makes The Dark Knight look like Ghost Rider 2.

11/10 i'm watching it again tomorrow.

Make sure as with the other Marvel movies, you stay for the credits, the set-up for the sequel made me pee a little.

Marley - Whilst perhaps not quite reaching the heights of Living In The Material World, this is still a well-edited and well-structured biopic. Some great footage of his open-air concerts in Jamaica and Zimbabwe is included amongst a raft of talking heads supplying the background narrative and context to his (all too short) life. 8/10.

Avengers 7.25/10

Pretty good but after a few of my friends told me how awesome it was I was expecting more. The fight scenes are really good as expected but after seeing so many superhero films in the past few years the fight scenes aren't what make the movie any more because you have seen so many.

I dunno it was just ok to good, nothing more for me. Hulk was good I guess, the story was ok but I didn't feel like they had a great bad guy in Loki who can just be bossed around by Thor. Also the two human "Avengers" would be killed in seconds and are of no use in a war against flying aliens so I never bought into that.

Tell you what though, reading this thread makes you realise how truly few and far between decent films have been of late. Imagine if this was the 70s or 80s? Some of the films we'd be talking about?

Rocky, 7/10, some decent fight scenes but his bird is a skank.

You should do a thread so we can all whine and bitch about it, theres hardly any heavyweight actors around nowadays, even action actors are threadbare compared to the 80s/90's.

Where is section these days anyway?
