I heard that they apparently knocked back 50 million and Shaktar were amazed when they came back and offered 60 million.

City trolled them on a couple deals, I think. They were supposedly in on Fred, Maguire, Alexis Sanchez and Ronaldo and then of course pulled out on all of them.

Ajax paid £14m for Antony before selling him to that shower for £82m. Goals per game in 2 years there was 0.3. At manyoo it's 0.1 per game. 

 

Van de Beek scored 0.2 goals per game for Ajax. He's scored twice in 62 games for that lot. £40m. 

 

122 million quid plus agent fees plus wages for 10 goals and very little else. 

 

You have to admire that recruitment strategy almost as much as the talent management.

Declan Rice is possibly the most overrated footballer on the planet. He was a perfect player for West Ham, ask him to cover the ground and win the ball back and he's as good as anyone. Ask him to be part of a dominant side and he will struggle. He constantly stays behind the opposition forward when his own CB has the ball, top midfielders never do that, he does it all the time. He's all straight lines, if he can receive the ball with the play in front of him he's decent, back to goal or surrounded by players he's next to useless.  Explains why Areta was reluctant to start him in the 6, he would be an very good 8.
