It's the hope that kills you!

You called that wicket in. Roy clean bowled by Cummins. Pity, that was a decent partnership building. Poor from Roy after all his hard work though.

Walked in and actually thought they were showing a replay of Roy's dismissal from the first innings. He worked hard but he's had a chance but Roy is a white ball cricketer.

Have to say Root's captaincy yesterday was pathetic when they had them 40 odd for 4, I thought great the Aussies might have to bat into tomorrow . But the tactics after tea were utter wank leaving Leech on when he was milking runs and why not put two quicks on and go very defensive with rhe field and just waste time .

Shit Stokes out

Damn, there goes any slight chance we may have had. Thoroughly depressing after the high of Headingley, but not a surprise. We have some deep 'Rooted' issues within this squad.

Said it before but a big part of the problem is investing so much into limited overs cricket.

The rankings show it mate. Number 1 in ODI's, two in T20 and 4th in Test Cricket, although the Aussies will probably go ahead of us on the back of this series.

Australia have deserved it, the better team for me

Yep, not only do they have a great batsman in the form of his life, but their bowling attack has performed better as a unit than our own. They have bought into the rotation and look a happy bunch. Labuschange was a luck out due to Smith's injury, but he's certainly played his part. I'm sure the Aussies will be delighted with retaining/winning the Ashes, but they also have major issues in their top order.

The next session will be the last. Would you experiment with the final test?

It would still be nice to level the series, so I can't see many changes happening. I'd like to see Sibley given a chance at opening, plus Curran given a chance in place of Roy.

Yeah Roys’ gone no doubt about that

It would make common sense, Roy needs dropping for his own good like Ali was. Sam Curran also adds to the bowling attack as well as being good with the bat. As far as Denley goes, they'll probably stick with him as he's only just been given the new role as an opener. I doubt that will work out well in the long run though, which is why they should be trying out a natural opening batsman like Sibley. The squad for the winter tours will be interesting.

This match isn't over yet. Long shot but we could still sporn this series 2-1.

Yeah, but it's not looking likely, Mick.

Oh I know mate but looking at the way we sporned our way to winning the WC especially in the final, and then the heroics we seen in the last test, I wouldn't rule anything out.

It can be a funny old game, as this summer has proven. I'm pretty optimistic in life, but the state of play at the moment doesn't give me much. In the big scheme of things, losing the Ashes could bring about some much needed change. If we had have sneaked a win, then we'd only be papering over the cracks. I'm sure the media will go to town on things over the coming days.
