Lambert hasn't settled into his stride at all...yet. Balotelli doesn't suit the one up top role and Borini doesn't score nearly enough to justify a starting place.

We'll have not dissimilar mobility concerns playing Lucas at DM as we do Gerrard, but the captain can't play 3 games in a week without inevitable consequences and I'd be happy to see Lucas in there on his own, at least for part of a game, as I don't yet regard it under the same umbrella as must never happen again like the pair of them together.

 

If Gerrard breaks down with an injury we're going to see it anyway so we might as well at least try to manage the situation and review alternatives.  Once we have Allen back in there it doesn't stand a worse chance of working in certain games than just playing Stevie 3 times a week and pretending he's not 34.
