Apart from it being a game for kids while this is the real deal based on cold hard facts from every game.

When it says Andy Carroll has been one of the top ten players in the league this season - then it is a load of bollocks!

If Andy Carroll has "more aerial duels won" than Luis Suarez, would that make him a better striker?

Or just (maybe) a more effective one in the air?

Is a player in a team that plays high balls into the box as opposed to playing it on the floor at an unfair advantage in this meaningless discussion?

The reason I looked at players winning headers is that we need a dominant CB to do exactly that.

And to have a look at this specific stat might point you in the direction of one instead of people coming up with suggestions who in reality is no better than the ones we have already.

Suarez is second only to Bale in the ratings so its funny to see how people dismiss it as having no value.

This is the top 10, who do people strongly disagree with and who are they missing?

Could the reality be that the players missing have weaknesses in their game these objective stats pick up while your subjective eye overlook them.

Player - position - games - goals - assists - ratings:

1 Gareth Bale Tottenham D(L),M(CL) 26 16 2 7.89

2 Luis Suárez Liverpool AM(CL),FW 29 22 4 7.85

3 Santiago Cazorla Arsenal M(CLR) 28(1) 11 6 7.83

4 Robin van Persie Manchester United FW 26(3) 19 8 7.68

5 Marouane Fellaini Everton M© 24 11 5 7.63

----------------------------------------------------------------

6 Chico Swansea D(CR) 19 - - 7.54

7 Jan Vertonghen Tottenham D(CL) 26 3 1 7.52

8 Steven Gerrard Liverpool M© 30 8 9 7.51

9 Wayne Rooney Manchester United AM(CL),FW 17(4) 12 9 7.45

10 Rafael Manchester United D® 21(1) 3 3 7.43

Some might say they are missing a player like Mata, but does he do enough defensively to be in the list and if not is he superior enough in attack to be included above more complete players?

I'm wondering if we need to take the risk of a bit of a mix n' match approach this summer - to make sure we get the right first team players. I'd rather not have two okay central defenders - I would prefer a top class one like De Vrij and maybe look at a Bosman like Diakite (the Lazio lad) or Amborietta - maybe look at Honda and Ince to make sure we get someone like Erikson, this way we are only paying big buck for De Vrij, Wanyama and Erikson. I know it hasn't worked for us in the past (other than Babel and Zenden) but, don't pay stupid wages and if it doesn't work they can be moved on.

And we are going to need another keeper - if Reina goes we need two, but at a minimum we need one.

And being reduced to statistics that show Andy Caroll in a good light! For shame!

LIVERPOOL FC will target Swansea City skipper Ashley Williams this summer as boss Brendan Rodgers looks to find a replacement for Jamie Carragher.

Securing the services of a dominant centre-back is the club’s overriding priority in the next transfer window and Williams tops their shortlist.

The Reds are also monitoring a number of alternative options but Feyenoord defender Stefan De Vrij is no longer on their radar.

Liverpool have had the 21-year-old Holland international watched by scouts regularly this season.

Rodgers flew to Rotterderam to see him in action against PSV Eindhoven last month but he failed to impress and the club are now focusing their attention elsewhere

Just to elaborate on my point above, it's interesting to compare Swansea under Rodgers last season with Swansea under Laudrup this season. Bearing in mind Swansea lost their manager and (supposedly) their best player over the summer. I'll return to this at the end of the season, of course...

Last season:

11 Swansea City 38 12 11 15 44 51 −7 47

F.A. Cup: 4th round (lost to Bolton)

League Cup: 2nd round (lost to Shrewsbury)

This season:

9 Swansea City 30 10 10 10 40 38 2 40

F.A. Cup: 3rd round (lost to Arsenal in replay)

League Cup: Winners (beating Liverpool and Chelsea along the way)

Hopefully as he has seen Allen struggle and they have European football next season he might turn us down, fingers crossed. Still think our biggest problem is how poor we are without the ball and how we defend as a team, a 26 yr old Sami would struggle to shine in how we setup.

Well Swansea did replace their best player with Michu, De Guzman, Flores and the lad from Valencia - which probably has more to do with their improvement than just the manager.

Basically they didn't receive £50m for their best player and then spend £35m on a fucking White Elephant.

Aye more shite midtable players from Swansea, what about getting in a manager who can attract good players.

The best deal we could do for the club in the summer is to get rid of Rodgers as he is holding us back both on and off the pitch.

At no stage was Torres our best player while at the club, I think that's been more than proven since he left
