Anyone ever heard of this? Someone was telling me there's supposed to have been a few accounts of people in Bold Street temporarily experiencing the place as though it was in the past, complete with horse and carriages and whatnot. https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/black-country/womans-horror-time-slip-changes-27986873 The road in question is Bold Street, in Liverpool. And a 'famous' example reportedly took place in 1996 when an off-duty police officer, and a woman in her 20s, were quickly aware of everyone on the street wearing clothes from the 1940s and 1950s. A book shop also allegedly turned into an old clothing store, while a van from the '1950…

Baker St Bar from the film Cocktail. Cracking little boozer, 12 dollars for a brekkie and two cocktails. The toilet was an old fashioned filthy pub one but I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. I had two screwdrivers..... the barman didn't throw anything around which was annoying. Got rid of the hangover though.

Hopefully obvious. As before please quote the song and the lyric rather than just posting the YouTube link. I’ll open the batting with Common People “she studied sculpture at St Martin’s college”

Good citizens of TLW. I come to you as an audio ignoramus, who has just purchased a portable music player and subscribed to TIDAL. I have never habitually listened to music, but am in need of relaxation and moving away from spending time on the interweb. I like classical and blues, and am well versed in same, but know the square root of fuck all about other genres. So, who are the contemporary music artists I should be experimenting with. For a frame of reference I dislike everything I've ever heard on the radio from Coldplay, but really liked the Bond song Billie Eilish did? So, any recommendations?

Came by this on chance on Reddit, it's hilarious. It's the theory that people will gravitate to areas of work that fit their name. A few examples:

Deserves its own thread. Season 1 is on IPlayer. Genuinely brilliant television. Loved it. Dublin gangster gear.

This is hard I think. I’m going to open the batting with Morrisey’s Come back to Camden which mentions the Thames.

We are having the (now traditional) TLW charity Christmas collection 2023 I asked Dave if he could copy the original thread onto the FF. It turned out he couldn’t so the original thread is now on the FF and this is the space on the GF for all collection based discussion. Where did we get to with suggestions for where to donate the money?

I’m in Reykjavik next Tuesday to Friday at a conference. I’ve not been there before and so was looking for some recommendations on places to see, things to do, etc. I’m obviously going to try and get out of the city one evening to see the northern lights, although there are some restrictions to where you can go as a result of the volcanic activity. Also pub recommendations for the footy in the evenings please. Mucho go raibh maith agats.

Drove through Melling earlier and they've always got union jacks and cross of st george flags about. Even Christmas stuff seems to have adopted this cross thing. What's the point? Who are you telling in Melling where you're from? We all live in the same place? I know the Americans love a flag, it's drummed into them from a young age to be some Stars and Stripes Yankee Doodle fuckwit but who really gives a shit where anyones from? I understand sport tribalism because people support different teams but what's with the country flags? I don't get it and think it's very odd. Maybe in London I get it but fucking Melling?

These bastards seem out of control now. Shortages. Leaky reservoirs. Dumping waste into rivers and the sea. And now this. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/nov/28/forever-chemicals-found-in-drinking-water-sources-across-england At what point does a regulator get a grip of them?

Tunes most played 2023 just dropped on Spotify. Going to put a playlist together off for the mighty GF. Simple info. Stick something on here you want added to a new playlist. Doesn’t have to be related to fuck all but it’s worth bearing in mind the mighty GF is the second hit on Google when you want to see Nicky Sobotka’s birds tits. YouTube link or whatever I’ll add it if I can. First off from back in the day just because it’s playing now Loads of proper music heads on here but cheese is welcome because we all know what gets hit on repeat after a few on a late night sesh. Vinos para mis camarades …

Anyone been in it lately? I'm right in it. Went out with her family last night to the woodlands in hunts cross to see a Tina turner tribute act. Some soft cunt (not me) got the shots in and I was away pissing the whole place off. Don't remember getting home but she's stormed round the house and fucked off with the dog. Trying to piece bits together but nope. No idea. Didn't help that we were an early kick off so I'd already had a few cans before we went out. I'm getting too old for this shit. I'm putting Whitesnake on fuck it.

Everton Park Sports Centre is a council owned and run facility that has brought affordable gym membership and swimming facilities to local schools and local people who would otherwise struggle to afford it. Under partnership schemes with local GPs they’ve been able to provide affordable rehabilitative services to patients referred by GPs to recover from ill health. Now the council wants to pass it off to the private sector to cut costs. There is already a private gym on Gt Homer St so you can see where this might lead. It’s probably the last local amenity that the community have and it’s being taken away from them. Please sign and share…

Used to like some Timberland stuff but it's shite these days, cheap-looking 'dad' trainer/boot hybrids which last five minutes. Massively overpriced too, the outdoor looking stuff isn't even waterproof half the time. Next was never what you'd call a premium brand but it would usually last, now it feels generally like supermarket clothes and the clobber consists largely of Doug Willis shirts which look like they've been dyed with baby shit.

Anyone dabble? I've got a small amount of savings and was thinking I should probably do something with at least some of it, less than a grand certainly. Been reading about various forex apps and "robots" which do the trading for you, have read reviews but there's lots of conflicting opinions when it comes to whether or not it's worthwhile.

Bought some silicone inserts to save on washing up but all the books say i need the circulation tray thing. Steak should be in a pan for me but got a beef joint and going to do it tomorrow. But this probe shit and the rest of it is not putting me in a happy place. Anyone have one of these things.
