Just took the plunge an spunked 200 quid on a Ninja. Not sure why as it goes against my better judgement but everyone says they are ace.

Bought some silicone inserts to save on washing up but all the books say i need the circulation tray thing. Steak should be in a pan for me but got a beef joint and going to do it tomorrow. But this probe shit and the rest of it is not putting me in a happy place. Anyone have one of these things.

Yup, magical bit of equipment. Don't think I've used my oven since I bought mine.

Piss easy to use and dead easy to keep clean.

I find it mad how anyone I know and speak to who’ve just bought one, have the exact same conversation about it.

”Just bought and air fryer”

”Oh yeah?”

”Good eh?”

”I don’t know, I haven’t got one - decent is it?”

”Amazing. I’ve done bacon in it. Tried some chips, but they weren’t right - will have to have another go. And that’s it”

It feels like some mad PR scam. People say it’s amazing, but never really sell to you what’s amazing about it. Mrs Curly keeps saying she’s getting one, but it never transpires.

I was considering buying one this week but having read loads of online reviews, I’ve decided against doing so. I would have mostly used it for things such as shop bought fish fingers, arancini, breaded cheese etc. There are far too many negative comments in relation to breaded and battered food cooking unevenly. Our oven is on the way out, so I’ll just put the money towards buying a new one

The silicon inserts are useful for certain things, but anything that you want to be crispy is better without.

My Mrs uses the paper ones and says they're very good. Obviously not needed if you're doing chips, but for sausages, bacon, burgers etc, anything high fat they're great. Just whip them out and bin them when you're done.

We've got the Ninja the same as the one PST mentioned, but we've also got one called a Gourmia we got from Costco for £50. She  uses that more than the Ninja if the truth be told.

The bacon programme isn't great so she just air fries it with no problems.

At a quarter of the price it might be worth a look.

I don't think we've never had an issue with battered or breaded food.

It's all about trial and error with everything and personal preference though I suppose.

At 200 bucks that Ninja would do more than just air frying wouldn't it PST?

I have one and use it all the time. For "frying" it is made for frozen stuff - it is excellent at that. It's good for batter dipped stuff.

Broils whole chickens really well - slow cooks really well. Good piece for me.

Yeah its this one.

Ninja Foodi MAX Dual Zone AF400UK 9.5L Air Fryer - Black 0

Says it does all sorts. My oven is a nightmare. Smoky and inefficient so it was either pump 200 into the meter or try this.

Due to performance? Or is it just easier to use the oven?

Second one. Nailed it. It’s just pure laziness on my behalf. If I air fry stuff I have to keep taking it out and giving it a shake. If I put stuff in the oven I only have to do that once or not at all. I’d rather sit on my arse and let something cook for longer than have to keep going in and out of the kitchen to save time.

Broil is just like it is on an oven - high heat from the top only. You could bake meat pies etc with it as well.

Yea, I make alot of jerky - pretty easy in that unit. Cutting it and getting the marinade right is the hardest part.

I cook loads and am reasonably good. Better than most I'd say. But Broil has always passed me by. I had assumed it was a type of roasting with a bath of water below or something. Having googled it after your post it now appears it is just direct heat like grilling. Cheers every day is a school day.
