Middlesbrough got to both cup finals in the mid 90s, the same year they got relegated with the likes of Ravanelli and Juninho in the team.

 

Leverkusen lost out on the league, German Cup and Champions League in 2002. Benfica lost out on the league, Portuguese Cup and Europa League last season.

 

Dortmund suffered similar ill-luck in the build up to last year's final when Gotze got injured in the semi final. It's difficult for an excellent team to cope with the demands of the business end of the season if they lack sufficient depth. We've found that out ourselves in recent weeks with several key players looking like they're almost running on empty.

No idea to be honest, but think they can still get back into it. Wouldn't like to think they're going to lose everything at this stage. Either way, hope they stay strong for next season too, and that we manage to challenge properly again as well.

 

Would suck to see the same old shit happening with either Chelsea/City, or Barca/Real in both leagues.

Bayer Leverkusen in 2002 came 2nd in the league and runners up in Champions League and German Cup I think
