We didn't really lose Sigurdsson to Spurs, they doubled our wage offer. Only a mad man or a die hard fan would come here on those terms.

We did however lose Sahin. Especially if the reports of greater financial incentive's are true. Seems we under-estimate the lure of the CL.

Yes we did. We were fucking fannying around as per usual and should have had it done and dusted before Spurs even got onto it.

Same old fucking story.

its laughable how anybody would want to goto arsenal before us. there a bunch of souless twats. Fuck sahin doesnt deserve liverpool football club

They are in the Champions League for the 17th consecutive time.

And are in London.

2 fairly big reasons why players might prefer to go there.

The fact we used to be a European heavyweight doesn't hold us in the light as much as we'd like it to.

Ok, friend. Please give me the names. Sigudrssson..........

Sahin, tello and affelay. Add to that the fact that we still need a striker and winger can see why people are pissed off. Im not saying they should be pissed off as the state we are in now its not gonna be an overnight fix. People need to have patience but we have been told that for too long now.

You know what'll compound the embarrassment of this ballsup? When our fans boo Sahin at Anfield in a couple of weeks.

Why is it a ballsup ? , thats just bullshit he wanted to go to arsenal and just because we wanted him to sign for us doesn't mean he actually will.

He chose arsenal , london and the champions league .

Is that Ayres fault ?

People need to grow up , players have enough power not to be pushed around and that is the major factor here. He went where he wanted to go.

You're missing the point. Tie up the deal before the media get hold of it.

If you read all the reports, "Arsenal back in for Sahin".

Wasn't really fussed about signing him earlier on in the week because it didn't seem like a priority position in need of strengthening but a bit disappointed about it now after so many supposedly respected sources had said it was a done deal. Don't think I'll ever belive anyone will sign until it's officially announced in future. Really hope we get in another 1 or 2 attacking players before the end of the transfer window as it was difficult to see again yesterday where exactly the goals are coming from this season.

While I agree that we've never maximised our potential for growth I don't think our failings can all be placed on bad management, there are a few specific instances in our history which would have been very hard to overcome no matter how good a management team we had in place. Then there is the on going stadium problem, if we had an incisive and ambitious boardroom back in the 90's things would be a lot different today.

But we're Liverpool and our expectations are always high is what is repeated, I think the same myself often but it's just a completely different landscape now...

Oh well, all I ask for now is for the fans not to be bullshitted. None of this 'we can compete with anyone' bollocks, tell it like it is. Set the expectations and we can enjoy any scraps of success that come our way.

I agree with that and they SHOULD be high. We should never become Everton and their constant 'oh, but we cannot compete' bollocks.

However, we are now paying for 25 years of simply being not very good at what we do and it will take a long time to get back, if we ever do.

Let's face it, we do not have many good selling points at the moment.

Let there be high expectations but let them be realistic, too. Patience will be THE virtue over the next few years.

It's not because it's from twitter that is the problem, it's who is posting it. Who is younggunsblog?

Edit: He's a 'journalist' for the metro and writes an Arsenal blog.

People usually weep at the mention of twitter but still this is them

Young Guns | Arsenal News and Editorials —

Young Guns is an award-winning Arsenal blog written by Jamie Sanderson.

It was formed in January 2008, and is the product of a bored teenager who became fascinated by the infamous Arsène Wenger quote: ‘We don’t buy superstars, we make them.’

Since then, he’s been exploring the way Arsenal develop their superb production line of players, and documenting the next generation of talent.

When not scribbling news and editorials here, you can usually find Jamie in the pages of The Metro and The Independent newspapers. Enjoy!

Disclaimer: Young Guns is in no way affiliated, linked or authorised with Arsenal Football Club PLC, and any similarities that there may be are purely coincidental.
