Quite enjoyed the Chaplin one that’s on Sky. It skims over the more dubious elements of his character, which reduces some of its overall credibility, but was interesting nonetheless.

Plenty of footage I’d not seen before, and I learned a bit about his younger years and those years as his star faded.

It’s not amazing, but worth a watch.

I went to watch that earlier as I fancied a documentary but ended up watching American murder story on Netflix the one where the fella killed his wife and two girls. Unreal that.

It’s worth a watch. I watched it in three sessions as it’s quite long.

I don’t think I could stomach the one you watched instead. I’d be watching from behind the sofa.

I'll give it a go this week.

You don't see him do it... its fascinating watching him lie though.

Amazing this

He's been on Rogans podcast so thought I give it a go. Amazing achievement

Incredible achievement, that. Although I still think the greatest single climb is the 1980 Reinhold Messner summit of Everest. Solo. No oxygen. Brand new route on the North Face. In and out in 48 hrs. The guy is simply not human. Reminds me very much of the free divers who are just about fish, w/o gills.

I wasn't sure where to post this but there's a new series on Channel 5 tonight at 9:00 called Digging for Treasure.

Dan Walker, Michaela Strachan and Raksha Dave with a team of local metal detectorists.

Tonights programme is at Loch Leven using divers.

It might be worth a watch.

Been watching loads of docs recently, mainly on Netflix, which is putting out some quality stuff. Their one on Brian Jones is superb.

If you’ve a got a Firestick/FireTV then there should be an app on there called FreeVee. Open that up and search for something called ‘Moment of Truth’. It’s a five-part series about the murder of Michael Jordan’s dad, similar to a lot of these wrongful conviction type documentaries that are all the rage now. I finished that in one sitting.

Saw this post on FB about Kenneth Griffith, Welsh actor and documentary maker.

Lots of his docs are on YouTube, and many were censored at the time including the one about Michael Collins.

He was a world renowned expert on the Boer War, and was a world class documentary maker denied greater exposure.

He played the gay Medic Whity in Wild Geese, amongst other roles.

Some really good historical documentaries on the channel.

Watched that last week. How fucking good we’re they at the Albert Hall? You could have put a CD on over the top and heard hardly any difference.

I watched this a couple of weeks back, I really enjoyed the documentary up until the Albert Hall but their performance there bored me senseless. John Fogerty was clearly immensely talented but the other three were a right bunch of fucking stiffs.

Another documentary I watched this week was Jaco, about the bass player Jaco Pastorius. I had to rent it but I think it's on Prime, it was superb & extremely sad towards the end, a real waste.

Adam Curtis’ latest series on iPlayer.

Russia 1985-1999: TraumaZone

Episode 1 of 7 covers 1985-1989 and the collapse of Communism, Chernobyl, withdrawal from Afghanistan,  and the rise of the first oligarchs.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/p0d3hwl1/russia-19851999-traumazone

Made from BBC archive footage with subtitles for the Russian and large texts to explain what’s happening, there’s no audible narration.

Perfect for a bit of dead zone telly but couldn’t binge it!

I've just come across this on Sky History tonight at 10:15, perhaps more of a docudrama, but it's a story that needs to be told.

Plus it's got the lovely Sam Naz in it so it's piqued my interest.

Don't bother.
