OPERATION ANFIELD EXORCISE

Police attended an incident at Anfield on Tuesday afternoon after two men on a stadium tour were reported to have gone missing.

Police said that they were called to address “security concerns” at Liverpool’s stadium at around 3pm. “Merseyside police can confirm officers are in attendance following security concerns at Anfield stadium today,” read a statement.

“As a precautionary measure, the club has evacuated the stadium and officers are now carrying out inquiries at the scene. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police on the 101 number or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”

A spokesman for Liverpool added: “There is an incident at Anfield stadium and as a precautionary measure the facility has been evacuated. The priority is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone at the ground. The emergency services are aware of the situation.”

They've put at least one of the roof sections up, joining the back of the upper tier to the roof truss. I think they'll remove the 2 braces that are currently being used to minimise movement of the truss so that once all the roof sections are fitted, truss movement won't be a factor any more.

I regularly look at the RAWK stadium thread because they have more regular updates, posters who add their own pics and just generally more discussion than you find over here. That's just how it is rather than promoting or criticising either site. However, there are more than a few bonkers opinions on there. One person on there hopes the away fans are visible on TV (they'll be moved to the other side of the ARE at some point) because they help create atmosphere and he likes to see them celebrating! You what? What Liverpool fans are happy to see opposing fans celebrating? If I have to see them at all, I'd rather it be like that Everton fan screaming "Fuuuuuck!" after we went 4-0 up a couple of seasons ago.

We need to crack on with the Anfield Road end once the main stand is done, we will be behind Spurs but only by 2500 seats. Don't think we will be able to go above 60,000 until something gets done about the transport links as that new train line will cost an estimated £350M. The government aren't going to help and Merseytravel are dithering about rebuilding a station by Chinatown & the Baltic area.

Genius, could watch that over and over. They were quiet for months after that game but came out of their remote caves when we lost to Chelsea and Drew with Crystal Palace. Must be brilliant to be an Evertonian. Thank god I was never BORN one.

Liverpool FC unveil street food and sports bar hospitality for new Main Stand

These pictures show what Liverpool FC fans who can afford matchday hospitality can expect from the new Main Stand – including street food and a sports bar named after the dugout.

Brochures welcoming fans to “The Anfield Dugout” have been sent out by the club,

advertising packages priced from £2,900 for the 2016/17 season.

It says The Anfield Dugout is a “bright and social sports bar” which “celebrates Liverpool FC’s creativity on the pitch”.

Fans are also told membership benefits include a ticket to every competitive home game, a half-time drink and a “vibrant mix of complimentary street food stalls”.

It says Liverpool FC legends will also be in attendance every match day.

If you’ve got the cash, you’ll also get pre-match entertainment, car parking, an annual gift – and a match day programme.

The stadium is being enlarged as part of a £260m scheme that will see capacity increased by an extra 13,000 seats by the start of next season.

The brochure says: “From traditional British classics to vibrant Asian fusion, The Anfield Dugout hosts delicious street food stalls and local guest vendors, cooking up new dishes and fresh flavours live before every match.”

It adds: “In less than a year we will be welcoming our supporters into an expanded Main Stand, purposely designed to retain the unrivalled atmosphere and spirit of Anfield.

“With 8,500 extra seats, the Main Stand will be one of the largest all-seater single stands in Europe.

“Visible from several points in the city, it’s going to add another impressive landmark to the world-renowned Liverpool skyline.

“We’re breaking new ground at the Main Stand. We’re creating a place that will become a part of our culture at Anfield: a place of great history, passion and character, where a wall of noise can inspire and intimidate in equal measure.

“This is hospitality that shares a real love of football.”

More than 5,000 cubic metres of concrete has been used during the building work at Anfield so far – enough to fill two Olympic swimming pools.

The work will take the Main Stand’s capacity above 20,000, meaning there will be a total of 54,000 seats in the stadium.

It will also include a new concourse outside the ground and a sensitive relocation of the Hillsborough Memorial and Shankly Gates, along with new lounges, corporate boxes, ticket offices and shops.

The Anfield Dugout may well have a “bright and social sports bar” which  celebrates Liverpool FC’s creativity on the pitch” and  a “vibrant mix of complimentary street food stalls”, but unless it's got a sticky carpet and blocked bogs, then it's got nothing on The Park.
