Liverpool Finally Land £10m Newcastle's Spanish Left-Back

Another source.

It seems as though Kenny Dalglish has finally got his man, with Newcastle left-back Jose Enrique allegedly on his way from Newcastle to Liverpool in a €11 million deal.

According to a report in The Daily Mail this morning, Liverpool will finally solve their problem at left-back and welcome the Spaniard into their squad subject to successful negotiations on the player’s personal terms.

The story alleges that, despite late interest from Chelsea to seal a hasty deal for the contract rebel, Liverpool’s flattering offer was enough to secure an agreement between the Premiership sides.

The coup now takes Dalglish’s total transfer spending to €123 million since replacing Roy Hodgson in the Anfield hotseat in January of this year, a rather abrasive sign of intent from the Scotsman.

It has appeared that Enrique is determined to force a move from the northeast ever since refusing to sign a contract extension and he also blasted the club via social network site Twitter last week.

"The club is allowing all the major players of the team to go. Seriously, do you think it is the fault of the players? Andy (Carroll), nobby (Kevin Nolan) etc etc.,” he posted.

"This club will never again fight to be among the top 6 again with this policy."

Enrique later paid tribute to the Newcastle fans, adding, "I think you fans are the best and you deserve the best, not what they are doing with the club. Thanks to everyone for supporting me."

The attacking full-back joined Newcastle from Villarreal in 2007 and has gone on to impress during his spell on Tyneside, making 129 appearances in all competitions.

The most important thing for me is the fact that he's really comfortable on the ball (same as Aurelio). He's got good pace and dribbling ability (at least for a full back) and passes the ball pretty well. All these qualities make him perfect for our back four, it makes it so much easier to keep the ball in our side when a couple of the defenders know how to use it and keep it.

The downside is that he'll be a bit too adventurous in his own half for the more nervous of our supporters, and he'll no doubt make a mistake or two that lead to goals against by doing so. I think the upsides are far bigger though (just as with Agger). Let's hope he keeps fit and the deal goes through! Will hopefully make a really effective partnership with Downing.

This might sound a bit stupid but aside from his obvious merits on the pitch, he'd be another spanish speaking mate for the likes of Pepe and Suarez, which can't hurt.

Not too important really, but I always think of shit that like that. Anything that makes our players happy to be here.
