I think Klopp went cautious because of the City result against Arsenal. If Arsenal had miraculously beat City, I think Klopp would have thrown everything at Everton to win it but seeing as it lost that 'title winning game' status it's understandable it was a cautious approach. It didn't need to be as terrible as it was, but i wasn't expecting free flowing football either, and tomorrow versus Palace should, SHOULD, be more attacking and playing to win, as 3pts in this and Liverpool can take Cities title off them by not losing against them at the Etihad. I think that's got to be the current plan.

If Trent is to be rested due to being a yellow card away from missing the Leicester game, and Lovren can”t play either due to the injury aggravated in this game, Gomez can’t play both CB and RB, so what do we expect?

Yeah, either the cut is weird at the shoulders, like the body is too wide meaning the sleeves hang funny, or the material itself is a 'bit stiff' and so it keeps its flat shape even when worn. Either way it looks really odd and similar to when you leave a top on a hanger for too long and the shape stays there while you wear it.

Maybe a different player to Barkley but still English... Liverpool look set to agree their first January signing of the season with the Express claiming the Reds have agreed a deal with MK Dons for the signing of 18-year old star Dele Alli. The teenager has been tipped to have a great future following a number of impressive performances in League One to start the season. Dele Alli only recently signed a new deal in Milton Keynes but the club’s manager Karl Robinson admitted at the time he expected the wonderkid to be on his move anytime soon. Alli was the star performer in their 4-0 thrashing of Manchester United in the League Cup back in August. The Express cites reports in claims that Liverpool have already agreed a long-term contract with the player. The newspaper claim that Brendan Rodgers’ side will spend £8 million on the player with the move to go ahead in January when the transfer window next opens, but Alli moving back on loan to MK Dons for the remainder of the 2014-15 season. They have quoted MK Dons manager Robinson as saying: “It’s inevitable that there will be a time when we will have to let him go, whether that be in January, next summer or whenever.”

From the Metro.co.uk Javier Manquillo is set for a medical at Liverpool after Atletico Madrid accepted their offer to take the defender on a two-year loan deal. Liverpool made their move for 20-year-old Manquillo on Monday and quickly convinced him to snub interest from Arsenal to move to Anfield. And now Marca says a two-year loan deal with the option to make the transfer permanent for just £4.7million has been struck with Atletico. The newspaper says the transfer will be announced in the coming hours but Manquillo is now making plans to travel to America, where Liverpool are for pre-season, to have a medical before joining up with the team. It’s thought that the Reds are paying a small loan fee for the player who can play at right-back, left-back or as a winger.

Reading this just had me thinking of Kewell for Remy and Riedle for Lambert. It was just a few seconds ago though so I haven't really thought it through properly.

Around £75 million is expected to be hitting the Reds’ bank account as a result of the Catalan club securing the services of the Uruguayan hitman. And so with it, the rebuilding begins. Depth It was no secret that the Reds seriously needed to flesh out their squad for the coming campaign, particularly with the return of the Champions League on the horizon. Nevertheless, the departure of Suárez somewhat signals a change in priority. Whilst Daniel Sturridge evidenced adequately last season that he is more of capable of finding the goal in Suarez’s absence, the Birmingham-born striker and new acquisition Rickie Lambert alone will not be sufficient if the Reds are to seriously impose themselves upon the domestic and Champions League campaigns. The potentially imminent signings of Belgian youngster Divock Origi and exciting Serbian Lazar Markovic show clear intent from Rodgers and co to quickly and efficiently reinforce the Liverpool front-line, however grumblings of unrest from some Reds fans have emerged, calling for bigger, internationally-established names to be arriving at Anfield. Big names? Marred by the summer-long flirtation with world-class Chilean winger Alexis Sanchez, who now appears to have opted for a move to Arsenal rather than stand as a mere transactional detail in the Suárez saga, many fans would be excused for being a little irate at the lack of instantly recognisable talent being linked with a move to Merseyside. Nevertheless, one important thing to remember is Brendan Rodgers’ renowned mantra for pursuing players who fit his philosophy and the project he has in mind. Rather than snap at the enticing allure of one of world football’s biggest stars becoming available, Rodgers’ assessment of whether the individual will be compatible with the project currently flourishing at Anfield is quite admirable. This isn’t to say however that Alexis Sanchez would not have been a fantastic acquisition and impressive outlet for Liverpool, far from it. Yet with the strongest chance of acquiring the Chilean, via the transfer of Suárez, not coming to fruition, little time can be spent dwelling on what may have been. Spending power Whilst it has been noted that much of Liverpool’s spending this window, on messers Lambert, Lallana and Can respectively, has been independent of the incoming finance soon to be received from the sale of Suárez, one has to remember that the Reds’ spending power still falls far short of the likes of Manchester City, United and Chelsea. In black or white terms, the remainder of this transfer window can go one of two ways. The first, a slow but steady process of acquiring individuals both suited to the Liverpool way of playing, yet possessing either the experience or the potential to flourish into top European footballers. A steadfast way of seeing results, albeit heavily requiring a hearty dose of patience. The second way however bodes much more bleakly. Consider a window of hastily cast decisions, procuring players with reputations around Europe as ‘the man of the moment’ or the die-cast ‘next big thing’. Think Tottenham Hotspurs and the countless millions plundered away on the likes of Eric Lamela, Christian Eriksen and Roberto Soldado, all for a collective sum of around £62 million. Each of course, top footballers within their own right, having had their lion’s share of solo success upon the continent. Nevertheless, haphazardly assembling talent together in the hope that they will click simply does not always work, sometimes the jigsaw pieces just will not fit – an overall philosophy is paramount. Maintaining composure Suarez will undoubtedly leave a huge void in his immediate absence. Nonetheless, frittering vast sums of money away on household names who may not even adhere to ‘the Liverpool way’ would be a classic case of one step forward, two steps back. Perhaps the anguish of some fans is born from the fact that Liverpool came so close to clinching the Premier League title last season, a feat that was simply beyond the wildest dreams and expectations of the best of us. Ironically however, it is perhaps this achievement which dictates that Liverpool should not simply plunge head first into the transfer market like a bull in a china shop, intent on securing ‘big names’ in aim of merely making a statement. Sometimes the loudest and most impressive statements don’t always make that much logical sense. Optimism As it stands, the creative platform of the Liverpool XI next season will take some beating. Adam Lallana joins the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Raheem Sterling, with the acquisition of Markovic hopefully not too far behind. Should this quartet forge a clockwork-like rhythm, entwined neatly between the engine room of Henderson and Gerrard and the main spearhead of attack in Daniel Sturridge, Rodgers again finds himself with a very meticulous and flexible offensive ensemble, to rival the very best. The transfer window is an exciting, yet often long-drawn and fascinating sort of beast. Purchases unquestionably have to be made; and they will be. Yet do not be expecting coveted names of Suárez-esque magnitude to be arriving in knee-jerk fashion, merely to satisfy the loss of the Uruguayan. As last season evidenced, a building project is well under way at Anfield. Personnel changes but philosophies remain the same. In Brendan we trust.

Congratulations! As said above, try to enjoy it as much as possible as they change and grow so quickly. in them first 6 months, something new happens and develops near enough each day, but you don't realize or get to savour it until it's over, as you become so focussed on 'getting through' each day (sleeping/feeding/cleaning/sleeping/feeding/cleaning/sleeping/feeding/cleaning/sleeping/feeding/cleaning/sleeping/feeding/cleaning/sleeping/feeding/cleaning/sleeping/feeding/cleaning/sleeping/feeding/cleaning) and that is just each day. Also mentioned above is how you realize you didn't do much before they are born, and again it is so true. Now, when you find time to sit and eat yourself, get more than a couple of hours broken sleep, or see a friend/relative who isn't there to see your new baby, you'll feel you've achieved something. It'll be the best and most difficult thing you ever do. Try to remember that when the inevitable tiredness of you and your partner result in some petty arguments. Enjoy!

I honestly think Sterling was going to start on Saturday, and that it would be almost a similar line up to the the Peru game, only Raheem was in for whoever (likely Welbeck) and that a good showing, along with a good 20/25 minutes against Ecuador, would have got him the start against Italy next week. So I believe him when he's says it, but to actually come out and say it, with things like 'he's blew it' is a bit uncalled for. I'd say only an injury to Welbeck now would get him his place for the opener

As he had a contract with Southampton, he's had to buy out of it and there was obviously a negotiation that took place to do so, and so there still could have been clauses to them allowing him to leave, as it's just the same as when a club pays the contract up surely. It's possible these clauses were made, though as mentioned above, very unlikely as it wouldn't really be something Southampton would want given the general acceptance that certain players are expected to leave, and so they'd prefer a bidding war. I still think he'll end up with us, but that maybe Spurs 'interest' will mean we end up paying a couple of million more than the maximum we wished to.

My wife is refusing to purchase any on my behalf and none of the local shops (even the Tesco) are currently selling them. I am not at the point of driving somewhere to specifically buy packs of stickers yet but i'm struggling to get a steady flow at the moment. I don't want to buy a mass amount in one go either, as that's kind of ruining the fun for me, and so i'm left with making people in work (who don't come in with their own lunch like I do) pick me some up on their lunch hour while they're buying food (they drive to the much larger Tesco for lunch). I think I may have convinced the mother-in-law to pick some up for me when she happens upon them though.

Yeps, I got mine yesterday and bought a few extra packs today. You get 5 packs 'free' with the album and 6 'free' stickers, which are likely to all be the same in every album (why would these ever be available in the packs if they know everybody with an album has them?) and the packs are 50p each with 5 stickers in essentially meaning 10p per sticker. There are 639 stickers needed to fill it and so just on £64 to complete before you even consider the amount of swaps. Think it cost me just on £100 to finish the last one form 2010, and I’d be surprised to do it so cheaply this time.

Shaw (as all have agreed on) as he's right in the mix to be one of the best in the league already and still a teenager. Bony from Swansea would be someone i'd consider for the squad striker, always looks a threat in the games i've watched (though not a great many i'll admit) and has a cracking strike on him. I like Lallana, but feel Will Hughes (outside the Premier League though) is a similar play with 6/7 years on him and maybe more potential with a likely reduced fee. He would obviously need more time to develop but i'd expect a better return long-term. I'm finding it hard to choose a 4th and 5th. Barkley would be fantastic too, though completely unrealistic. I'd have to go with Vertonghen as one, though not without his weaknesses he's one of the best in the league at a good age and in a position we could do with a settled partner to hopefully go alongside Sakho. And I could accept Delph as the final one (Barkley wasn't realistic) but mostly due to a snippet here and there and others confidence in him. He seems very Henderson-like but maybe further on than when Rodgers started to improve him.

Rafa was also after Sergio Ramos when he was 17/18, though refused (apparently in a similar way to the Alves deal) to pay the price, which was around £10m at the time. He went to Madrid a year later for what Wikipedia say was 27m Euro.
