I wrote to Dion Fanning at the Irish Independent as he's been very good in the past with having a go at the owners. I have since got the below reply, so it seems there is very definite interest in this.

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for this. I am trying to verify this at the moment but we have very early deadlines tonight because of the weather.

Regards,

Dion

Great work.

Great work

Liverpool director Tom Hicks Jnr 'abused fan’ via email - Telegraph

Hicks Jr is alleged to have called the fan an “idiot” after receiving an email containing a web link to a newspaper article concerning the challenge facing the Liverpool manager, Rafael Benítez, to cope with the club’s £240million debt while keeping the team competitive.

Just before 4am on Friday in Texas (10am in the UK), where Hicks and his father, Tom, are based, Hicks is alleged to have sent a second message, reading: “Go to hell. I’m sick of you.”

Ian Ayre and Philip Nash, the club’s commercial and financial directors, were both copied in on the email, sent via the web servers of Hicks Holdings, but sources at Liverpool insist neither received a message.

The club would not comment. Paul Rice, chairman of Spirit of Shankly, the Liverpool supporters’ union, said: “The comment is behaviour unbecoming a director of Liverpool Football Club and as such Tom Hicks Jnr’s position as a director is untenable.”

Liverpool were looking into the incident on Saturday night but the fans’ reaction highlights once again the tension between boardroom and stands at Anfield since Hicks senior and his business partner, George Gillett, bought the club almost three years ago. They remain heavily in debt.

Christian Purslow, the club’s managing director, is seeking investors to take a 25 per cent stake in Liverpool for £100million in a bid to provide capital to restart work on the new stadium.

That may come too late for Benítez, who can only spend what he can raise. The Spaniard’s £1.2million capture of Maxi Rodriguez, the Argentine winger, is likely to be just one of two budget acquisitions by the club as they scramble to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Excellant. This is great work. I've written to Dion Fanning again and referenced Hicks former ownership of Corinthians, and Rafa having to make a profit in the transfer window again and suggested he do a full piece next Sunday if he doesn't make the early dead line tonight.

This could go very well. Even the fact we are getting to call for a Directors resignation for being a prat is great.

According to PeeGee, Hicks has apolgised to Stevie which confirms that they were legitimate emails. The horrible cunt.

He has indeed. It's funny as you know they've been running around in a panic all day, wondering how to play this one out. Steve's well and truly had them on the run.

He's just about said sorry and when I say just about' date=' that's overstating it.

BTW it's made the Sunday newspaper

Well Red - a Liverpool FC blog: Fans' outrage at LIVERPOOL FC director's f-word email

From the comments below the article.

Momo:

Liverpool fans in outraged shocker.

I'm not that arsed personally. In fact I thought it was hilarious.

well played by all involved in this one (especially hicks for being a tart).

we need to build momentum. even referencing the current issue with the mancs and the bond issue they are coming up with to try and service their debt.

anything we can do to keep pointing out the financial peril we could find ourselves in will continue to educate the uniformed masses.

Any specifics on the apology?

Also, Steve, I am disappointed you aren't doing the links to your own story. Fame has gone to your head.

"Stephen,

I apologize for losing my temper and using bad language with you. It was a kneejerk reaction.

Tommy"
