After our Lab passed last summer I didn’t want another dog. Fast forward to A levels and GCSEs being over and this little guy is now with us. He’s a total wild man right now but clearly wants to be trained which is a blessing.

Yeah. He”s going to be over 40kg at full growth. We’ve had GSD and Irish Wolfhounds in the past. Before the kids though so having a working dog will be new for the family.

Get him working on site with them paws mate!

I’ve already had to dog proof more areas. The extra slab he’s sitting on used to have gravel in. He removed it all and started digging around the fence post. He kept looking over his shoulder at me while I pissed myself. He was very confused by the concrete base and why he couldn’t break it down.

My dog had blocked anal glands today. Fun. She had them expressed but is still leaking oily arse fluid about. Great stuff. Just the £40 on too of the near 200 to get her Euro travel papers. Hope her arse clears up by then

The dog we got from the rescue centre last year has the same problem. She might need surgery to have the glands removed though because it's happened a few times now.

We're just waiting to see if it happens again before we take her back to the Vet.

She's 3 and a half and it's only ever happened twice, but both in the last 6 months so hopefully it's not going to be an ongoing issue.

One of my mum and dad's had to have his glands removed a few years ago. Poor bugger used to struggle like mad with them.

Had the op and had to have his arse shaved. His new nickname was "Billy Baboon Butt." Totally life changing for him, though, the op. He was like a new dog.

ANAL GLAND UPDATE:

We've started giving her Glandex fibre powder in her food, because we forgot to take her usual stuff to France with us and its resulted in massive shites which are obviously clearing her glands, because they fucking stink.

She's only about 3.5kg but the other day did a shite the size of a ping pong ball and was made up with herself.

Here she is living her best life on holiday

First time ever at the beach yesterday, he absolutely loved it so we took him back today for some training with his recall lead, now he’s snoring waiting to pinch some of our roast. Some life this kids got.
Poor sod was scared of his own shadow a month ago now he’s pissing on men made of iron and running into the sea with no fucks given.

They absolutely are mate. One of the few things on the planet that can make you forget about all the shite going on.

I havent had pups for ages but nothing beats the joy of them waking up in the morning, tails wagging and the look of excitement.

Dogs fucking rule.
