Saturday/Sunday footie

Does anyone play footy at the weekends? I've been playing the last 10 years and noticed how bad things have got especially over the last 2/3 years violence-wise.

Played a couple of months back and 2 scallies drove their car through our goal net as we were warming up. They parked behind our goal and threatened our keeper constantly during the game.

There were ratboys on the touchline threatening us all game and one tried to batter the teenage ref at the final whistle because he booked one of his mates. We had to act as a "police escort" for the ref and take him home as he would have had to wait for a bus and got done over by them. Our manager got punched in the face by a player last season for appealing against an offside. I nearly got crippled last year by some dickhead who flew in 2 footed at me almost waist high, I still have a nice long scar at the top of my leg to prove it.

The changing rooms regularly get robbed by scallies, a bunch of lads from Manchester were playing on the next pitch to us at Mather Avenue last year and their bus with all their gear got nicked, they all got the train back in their footy gear.

Refs seem to get the brunt of the abuse obviously, I don't know why they do it to be honest, £18 isn't worth a battering in my book.

It used to be quite funny seeing the odd scrap or seeing a loudmouth scally getting his comeuppance but lately it seems to happen all the time. I got involved in a fight defending myself 2 seasons ago but got send off for retaliation and had to pay a £28 fine.

I love my footy but I don't fancy taking 2-3 months off work because some dick who wants to go out and deliberately break someones leg and just decides to break mine. I just think to myself if it's worth the hassle anymore and would rather watch Liverpool at the weekend rather than running the scally gauntlet. Some of my mates have told me worse stories than what I've said above including being threatened with guns.

Anyone experienced any mass violence lately whilst playing footy?
